NOW THEN CHAPS AND CHAPPESSES

FEEL I HAD TO GET SOMETHING OFF MY CHEST APART FROM FLEM

READ MOST POSTS ON HERE, AND FIND MOST OF IT NEGATIVE AS FOOK.
FAIR ENUFF WE DID NOT HAVE THE BEST OF SEASONS LAST SEASON IN TERMS OF RECENT HISTORY, BUT WE HAVE TO REMEMBER 1 THING

WE ARE HARTLEPOOL UNITED FOR FOOKS SAKE

THE PARENIAL BRIDESMAIDS, (FAT ONE WITH GRAVY DOWN THE FROCK AS WELL)

WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE OR CAPABLE OF SPENDING BIG ON PLAYERS, THAT IS PART OF OUR HERITAGE, STICK ONE UP THE BIGGER CLUBS EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, BUT MAINLY DO THE BEST WE CAN, WITH WHAT WE'VE GOT!

AS FOR CALLING PLAYERS OR AS HEARD AT SOME MATCHES BOOING THEM, I FOR ONE, WILL NEVER EVER BOO A POOLIE ON THE PITCH, NOBODY INTENTIONALLY GOES OUT TO FOOK UP OR FALL FLAT ON HIS FACE.

WE SEEM TO HAVE A LOT(?) OF NEWER SUPPORTERS DUE TO RECENT SUCCESS AND ITS UP TO THE OLDER ONES TO TELL THEM HOW MUCH BETTER THE FOOTBALL CLUB REALLY IS NOW COMPARED TO MANY MOONS AGO. MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER FUN IN THOSE DAYS (WALKING ROUND GROUND, SING AND STAND WHERE YOU WANT, GREAT AWAY DAYS WHEN YOU COULD ACTUALLY GO IN A TOWN CENTRE PUB,............), BUT WE NEVER NEW IF WE WOULD LAST FROM SEASON TO SEASON.

NOW WE HAVE IOR BEHIND US, AND IF THEY WERE NOT THERE, WE WOULD BE NO WHERE NEAR WHERE WE ARE NOW, IN FACT YOU COULD PROBABLY READ "HARTLEPOOL" IN PLACE OF "HALIFAX"

RANT OVER AS THEY SAY, I FOR ONE WILL BE THERE SATURDAY, FULL OF OPTOMISM (AND ALE thrilled ) AND WILL GET BEHIND THE LADS AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY.

HOPE EVERY ONE ELSE DOES THE SAME

UNITED

Top POst Anth, but like always there will be pricks go against your comments because they are so fcuking negative.

I will be another one there on Saturday, cheering the boys on, will be there the week after in Tranmere, and will be as optomistic as ever.

Like you say WE ARE HARTLEPOOL UNITED not MANCHESTER UNITED OR any other successful club. Yes i would love to see us be a bigger club but it wont happen.

Lets all just forget about the past season. We stayed up thats all we asked. Lets push on again get a higher position and build on each season

"I FOR ONE"

I hate that phrase, didn't read the message, too many captial letters, did skim over it, something about people expecting too much I think, but stop at "I FOR ONE".

What the fook does that mean? "I FOR ONE" as opposed to I for two, or we for one?!

It's a quick and handy way of saying "I don't know about anyone else but I [believe whatever]"
But hey, you got nearly half way through the post if you read that!
AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE CAPITALS LIKE INNIT!!!

Anthrax,if you use capitals in your post to stress a point it will be noticed but if the whole post is in capitals it will be ignored.

Nobody wants to discuss the content of your post because of the manner in which you have presented it.

I'm not wasting my time even reading the post as its clear from your posting style that what you say is gospel and no matter what I say you are not going to even consider my words.

You have not posted that message to instigate a debate, you have posted it to preach and dictate to people.

I put the post up to generate debate (which is what i believed this site to be about)

Should have known to leave it to 1 word messages, makes it easier all round yawn1

Personally its no suprise to the answers received.

I never once said it was law and everyone had to obey, capitals or not, if you read the message at all, you'd understand, this is my opinion

Do people really struggle that much with capital letters sctatchinghead If so apologies

But my main point at the end of all this being the lack of support and sniping I have read across the threads

My view end of

Right the post in lower case for everyone to read and comment

"now then chaps and chappesses

fair enuff we did not have the best of seasons last season in terms of recent history, but we have to remember 1 thing

we will never be able or capable of spending big on players, that is part of our heritage, stick one up the bigger clubs every now and again, but mainly do the best we can, with what we've got!

as for calling players or as heard at some matches booing them, i for one, will never ever boo a poolie on the pitch, nobody intentionally goes out to fook up or fall flat on his face.

we seem to have a lot(?) of newer supporters due to recent success and its up to the older ones to tell them how much better the football club really is now compared to many moons ago. might have been better fun in those days (walking round ground, sing and stand where you want, great away days when you could actually go in a town centre pub,............), but we never new if we would last from season to season.

We're hartlepool not liverpool remember!

Sod off.

We can go as high as we want, there is no glass ceiling in football only the one we put up.

We we're 8 minutes from the championship, yer i'm not going on and on about that cos it was a few year ago, but it proves its possible.

IOR could wake up tomorrow and think wait a sec, and whack £50 million into the club, and suddenly we do what hull do.

Anything can happen.

Aye they could, but they are biding their time, I suspect because of the ground ownership situation.
So what we do have to accept for now is that IOR aren't going to go full steam ahead, and we must just hope for relative success with what we've got. At best that's going to get us within 8 minutes of the championship.

I for one think this is a crap thread. If I want to be negative at times then I will be. welcome to the board.

I would sooner be someone who praises when deserved and criticises when deserved than be some optimistic plank who steadfastly refuses to criticise the club/its players as it would deem you to be a 'shit supporter'.

I love Pools but I hate them at the same time. I wish I had never got into football. Pools make my weekend when they win but they ruin my weekend when we lose. How much stress-free life would be without worrying about Pools 24-7!!

There may be a few on here who are overly negative at times but there are also a good number on here who are at the opposite end of the spectrum and are not prepared to criticise even when the club/its players are incompetent.

There are very few of us (there's the occasional Darlo interloper of course) who is happy when Pools lose. I hate it. However, please consider this:

If we're losing and we express our bad feelings through booing & criticising our own players, we continue to feel bad and our players (also already feeling bad because they don't like to be losing either) feel worse because the people there to support them are attacking them instead. They begin to wish they weren't there. They lost confidence. It's fairly well established that lower confidence leads to lower performance levels. Basically then, we're making a bad situation worse.

If we're losing, and we're still unconditionally supporting the team (e.g. "we love you Hartlepool, we do") - and I've been proud to be part of this happening at some away games, then WE feel better than we would have done otherwise. and also it gives the team a boost; the players WANT to do better for these fans, feeling that they feel deserve better. Even if the team finish up losing, we're still proud of them & they're still proud of us. OK it's not as good as winning, but it's SO MUCH better than losing and lashing out.

Having worked in an area of applied psychology for many years and seen these principles work time & time again in practice, I sincerely believe it and wish I could persuade ALL the Pools supporters to do their best both for the team and themselves. We really do have a part to play.

So you go to pools to escape the 'real life crisis' affecting your personal outlook on life and if pools win everything is rosy and lifes problems go away, if they don't win or your crisis outweighs their performance and this does not alleviate the pressures you have brought on yourself, you blame them for the shit life you have and your inability to cope with pressures brought on by your own inadaquecies sctatchinghead

They, in turn, turn up to play footy unaware of their duty to perform therapy or counselling through their efforts on the pitch sctatchinghead

Don't worry old chum there is a solution to this!

Why not go back to college and take some qualifications, then you too may be as qualified as your old mate Ripper and not have to sit in his shadow counting beans while he goes off and does exciting things. This will fill the gap in your life left by Mr Ed, This in turn will raise your self esteem to the point you will be able to cheer

Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah

And wave youyr rattle instead of chucking it

I know I know, another beating

The reason why this argument is flawed is that a lot of supporters boo the players when we see that there is a lack of effort, i.e. we know they can do a lot better. When players simply dont appear 'up for it' (which happened many times last season) they will get criticised and rightly so. In the days when we had Skedd, Ingram, Billing etc we got beat because of a lack of ability which many fans could accept. The players we have in this day and age however are much better players and will get criticised for a lack of effort. Not criticising the players in such a situation would hardly give them a kick up the @rse would it and judging by some of the repeated blunders by Danny Wilson I doubt he has the ability to sort the players out. If the only way we can let the players know that their displays are not good enough is by booing or avoiding games (which harms the club more!) then booing is the best remedy (and makes us feel a bit better too!)

It's a no-win situation for Wilson innit.
When he plays players who are willing to provide 90 minutes hard graft he gets slated for picking effort above talent.
When he plays players who can't be arsed he gets slated for picking idlers.
While as we all know there is an untapped reservoir of highly talented players ready to work their bollocks off but who never get a game. I really would like a list of their names.

So you go to pools to escape the 'real life crisis' affecting your personal outlook on life and if pools win everything is rosy and lifes problems go away, if they don't win or your crisis outweighs their performance and this does not alleviate the pressures you have brought on yourself, you blame them for the shiit life you have and your inability to cope with pressures brought on by your own inadaquecies sctatchinghead
