Just wondered if you knew Marty Walkinshaw. He was 40 Cdo then SBS followed by a stint in BAS.

Marty was a typical old fashioned Marine, liked a drink a bit too much but was ready willing and able the next morning. Sadly he died last week in Taunton aged 50- Heart attack. Funeral is Wednesday.

John i met him at Poole and had a few beers in town with him on a few too many occasions and boy can he drink.

I have just found out that an old CSgt friend of mine also died last month I think his first name was Dave (jock) Jardine he was SBS at Poole, he had a heart attack whilst on duty at a prison guard at Dorchester nick he was aged 56.

I had a few questions or things that sprang to mind but dont like starting new threads so here goes.

Did you know that a new series starts on Discovery this Wed at 9pm called Elite Force and the 1st one is the SAS, I know the Booties and Para's are included and no doubt the rest will be made up with crap Yank troops.

Looks like Gods got a couple of top notch new bodyguards in the last couple of weeks.

Beer: I've vaguely heard of it but never drank it. Sounds like a daft marketing idea to me, no doubt sold in all military towns.
The name doesn't mean anyting to me, I did know a few Robertsons though but not one from Hartlepool.

Oh dear, another SF series. No doubt it'll end up as another SAS/SBS Para/Marines UK/US pissing contest.

In humble opinion, there isn't a 'best' unit. all have the same mindset and determination: its more a question of different jobs, different type of training.

I've dug out the green lid and will be heading to Taunton on Wednesday / Thursday. Waiting for confirmation on which it is. Hopefully Marty will get a good send off.

I'm gutted again. The funeral is on the 21st which means its impossible for me to go.
