More Police for a start and get them out of Cars/Vans etc and back on the beat....then get people in to do the paperwork so the Police can get out of the station and back onto the streets ASAP after they've made an arrest!!!! :grin:

I understand what you're saying but this road policing unit is going to be around for years and years. It's not like Cleveland Police will have 4 million quid a year extra per year if they didn't go ahead with the unit.

Even if that 4 million quid was spent over 10 years on extra bobbies, if they were on 22k a year that's 18 extra policeman per year for the whole of Cleveland to have at their disposal. I am not convinced that 18 extra bobbies (so 6 at any given time if they're on 8 hours shifts) would have any effect on rapes, knifings and murder.

We all want extra bobbies on the beat but as you mention we can do that without the ridiculous levels of paperwork that goes with the job. I know for a fact that Cleveland Police are looking into being PDA's to complete paperwork and could be the first force to do so.
