does anyone know if the Blackies has closed? And if so what has happened I used to call in from time to time and it seemed to be ticking along nicely.

I know Matty and Sharon very well, and it's been on the cards for a while. Pub companies are w****rs believe me. They take whatever they can off you, regardless of whether you're making that money or not!!! As for the local authorities................... rage

If those greedy bastards took a FAIR portion then everybody wins, the pub stays open and you might just make a living.

The lad who had run it for the last few years left last weekend as he was finding it increasingly difficult to make it pay (on top of which the brewery put his rent and beer prices up again apparently). Anyway as far as I know it is still a going concern and is under new management....

PS expect a large number of pubs to be sold off to property developers in the next 5 years around the UK!!! There's already 50/60 pubs closing every month!!!!

When there's hardly any pubs left there'll be an outcry, but it'll be too late by then!!!! The ones that's left will be owned by megabucks companies, and the prices will shoot up because there'll be no competition!!!!

My uncle works in Camerons and they are shatting themselves. they are saying that the figure is more like 80 pubs per week closing throughout the UK.

Fcuk them when its too late and Gordon Brown cant stealth the beer anymore, watch how expensive it will be to run a car or house. it will get a lot worse before it gets better.
