Lets not forget the fact he's not good enough to be a professional footballer!

He's probably a nice lad and DEAD fast though

Exactly which bits of Wilson's comments do you not agree with? I happen to agree with the majority of them.

The fact he is blaming the fans for foley being rubbish, if we just get off his back he'll be ok, honest!

He gets into fantastic positions? Like when he stays back at corners?

"Every time we have asked him to play in certain positions, he has never let us down." This I simply do not agree with

I'd love him to do well and would be happy for him to score more goals. I have posted on another board and I'll post again on here, for every goal he scores over 5 this season I will donate £5 to the charity of his choice.

go on David, fill yer boots

How about, 'He's only 20', or words to that effect

Sadly for him and us , he is another in the long line of short, skinheaded, lightweight, run very fast players

Skedd, Istead, Jade Sinclair etc etc etc

To be fair I think that's twisting what has been said somewhat, the question has been put to DW that sections of the crowd are becoming frustrated with him and he's recognised why in his final ball and said Foley will be very frustrated himself with that side his of his game .

Saying "He can't let people in the crowd affect him and hopefully he can progress" is hardly blaming the fans for him being rubbish is it?

I can't see him being on much, I don't think he's good enough, he's very lucky to get another contract but the fact is he's got one. The balls in his court, prove people wrong Mr Foley.

OK, thanks for the offer. I will save this thread and take your money if he succeeds.

Anyone else want to give me any money if he does well?

Well of course you will take the money, thats the whole point!

However I think Shergar has more chance of winning the next Derby

Most of Wilson's comments boil down to saying he's got a lot of work to do before he's the finished product. Is he right or not?

As for "But Wilson has urged supporters to remember that Foley is still relatively young and advised his young winger to concentrate on his own game rather than any taunts from the crowd," it seems to me he's adressing the player there, not the supporters, and giving him sound advice to boot. The first reaction of the trigger happy, touchy crowd that a lot of you are will of course be he's having a dig at you.

I don't expect David Foley to score 8 goals next season. I don't particularly even want him on the bench but that doesn't mean I don't agree with DW's sentiments in the article.

It could still be an easy 50 quid if it comes in though so I'd be stupid to turn down such generosity.

But easter is shite, apart from one half decent season, if you take his record on a whole, he averages about three goals a season.....

I think Wilson is as frustrated as anyone over the 'progress' of Mr Foley and it appears he has told him just that. It also appears that Wilson sees something that quite a lot of people don't.
I read it as Wilson telling Foley 'either deliver or you'll be out'. There is nothing wrong with that.
I'll be as surprised as anyone if Foley delivers, but equally I'll also be happy if he does. The club have made the decision to give him a chance and I think we have no option but to go along with that.
None of us know the exact nature of the pressure or constraints put upon Wilson. I'm sure Wilson would love to bring in 'ready made' strikers but....................

Let's cut the crap eh. Now call me a cynic, but the 'foleytastic' comments which made the record books, for the use of the word 'fantastic' so frequently in so few sentences, tells me that....' there's no signings coming, so I'm talking up the fringe players potential'.
If anyone had posted this as a joke joke 6 months ago ...how we'd have mocked, now we have posters discussing the merits of the statement...a sure sign of lowered expectations. yawn1

Exactly my thoughts.

Regardless of who Wilson is supposed to be blaming....you just cant get away from the theory that Wilson is warning us to expect to see a lot of Foley.

And you lot can be as enthusiastic as like, but whilst Wilson talks up Foley (how many times is that now, this summer?), and we see no quality signings, I suggest we should all be worried.

How much is that CHEAP season ticket again? You have all been robbed.

I havent been robbed, I didn't buy one

We were discussing the merits of the statement, not of Foley. :!:
I haven't noticed anyone in this thread saying he's actually got potential.
But I realised a long time ago it's in the Bunker's nature to "take or leave the whole package" with no separation of parts, so I'm hardly surprised at the criticism.

It's a pinch-of-salt job (that's one smiley I've yet to see!).

Read in between the lines.

As usual, there's no money to spend.

So if the reporter asked Wilson about the merits of David Foley, what do you want expect him to say?

'I don't give a fook about him, I want to sign better than that sh*te'

You don't need to be a journalist expert to know that Wilson was only asking questions that were asked to him. I hardly think he picked the subject when he turned up at the interview.
