To be blunt...................that was 2 very bad points dropped against a laughably poor darlow. I cant really describe how poor the were.....and oh so lucky.....on more than one occasion.

They were awful yet Maddison said he was pleased with their performance...thats laughable.

This division is unbeliveably shit and if we had a striker we'd be steamrolling teams but we haven't, and we're not.

Joel was poor yesterday, I'd start Brownie next week.

Foley was superb. Man of the Match for me.

Thing is though, the 'high earners' are on long contracts, so unless so other mug buys them, or IOR pay the wasters off, they are here for a while now

porter was average yesterday ( started well, faded badly, must be injured ? ) but starting with brown would be a backwards step. hes only a kid and has got time on his side, but hes never looked like a starting option at any point this season. id like to see us at least start with the same side as yesterday, there seems little point in pressing the panic button just yet.

our promotion bid this season was scuppered by that transfer embargo. if we had signed a proven goalscorer we would be top 6.

Got to agree with you there Chips, Brown has got time on his side,But I think (and this may be a bit controversial) Mr Daly has had his purple patch and he's back to his usual standard I predict he won't score more than a dozen goals this season and he's already on 8 I'm not slagging the lad but if Porter is going to get the kind of stick he got from the clowns around me yesterday then Daly has to take the lions share of it too did he win any headers against Matt Clark (who incidently is not the most agile defender in the world but he had Daly in his pocket from the outset) yesterday!!!!

ive expressed my feelings on the daly subject many times already. unless we get a penalty dibbs reckons he wont score again before xmas. i actually thought he was okay yesterday, chased a couple of lost causes down and won back possession, but hes not a goalscorer. yes he got 7 in 3 games ( 2 of them penaties) but if you play up front for long enough that will happen at some point. he will do until january but i really dont see him as the answer.

joel i cant weigh up. i think he is a fantastic player, but he seems to be getting pissed off at the moment. it may be the amount of running off the ball he is having to do to make up for big jons lack of mobility, it may be the kicking he is getting every week that refs seem to tolerate, or it may be that his knee injury is still affecting him. whatever it is hes not performing to his full potential, and sitting on the floor looking miserable is not going to endear him to the clowns on the mill house terraces. if he leaves in january i will be gutted.

foley and brown are both in their first proper seasons.while they have been around for a while asking either of them to become first choice striker in a team that a lot is expected of is a big ask. both need to be given gradual introductions to the rough and tumble of division 4 football. despite his size foley looks the stronger of the two, and his pace is going to cause any team trouble. he actually looks better playing wide on the right where he has more time to generate openings and the opportunity to run at people.

neither effion or proctor are up to the job of scoring 20 goals a season. this was apparent 12 months ago.

i think the majority of fans will stay off wilsons back as long as the team stays away from the drop zone on the basis that he inherited a lot of very average players. given the number of bad sides in this league any manager of reasonable competence should be able to achieve this.

my current concern is that fans are starting to see the january transfer window opening as the gateway to the promised land. the truth is that the club may well have one hell of a job hanging on to the good players that we have. nelson is going to be the subject of bids from championship clubs. one wonders how committed the club would be to keeping him. if he went i cant see who we would bring in to replace him.

We don't see eye to eye very often, but I agree with almost all of that

Only comment is up to now at least IOR seem to have stuck to their guns of holding on to the good players, they have turned down offers for Nelson before and Coventy's offer for Dimi so unless anyones contract is up I have few worries about good players going in January

i agree with this chipster, but how/why has it got so bad. As well a possible replacement for nelson, we still need a right winger and a replacement for boyd - minimum.

stuck as to where we can go.

If we lose Nelson but gain a couple of players who are going to add ten goals to our total for the second half of the season we'll have made a good move.

Having said that, I'll repeat one more time: it's not just the strikers who are misfiring.
Half of our goals should be coming from the other nine players but they aren't coming either.

Why?

Nice avatar MJ. Reminds me of the days when we had a pair of scorers who got more than 40 league goals between them two seasons running.
And George Luke was an old-style winger, not an out-and-out striker.
Wouldn't it be lovely...
