I don't know of one in the world.

If you think QS's are bounders, and they are, IFAs are like the pondlife of the desperately poor, eating away at society from the bottom up.

I know a good one in Ch.......errrmmm....locally, though.

A word of caution Mr Ripper. I would check that the person you select is truly independant. Quite a few state that they are, then steer you to companies/investments in which they have a vested interest. Also be very aware on their charges.
You need to find someone who is au fait with the particular investment field you are interested in.
If there are substantial funds involved a second opinion from an accountant or even a lawyer maybe advisable.

Substantial funds? rolfl

I wish!

Nah, when I moved jobs a few months ago the new firm doesn't have a company pension and I keep meaning to get round to setting my own up, or some other form of investment in lieu of a pension, or a bit of both etc.

But I know nowt about that sort of thing. :uhoh: So I'll heed the advice and be a bit cautious.

No need to go IFA route, your bank will sort you out just as well - they're all after comission regardless

I was advised to join a pension scheme thing 20 years ago, went to a place in raby road peggy ........ financial advisors and they fixed me up with a company which has since been bought out by Norwich Union, paid a tenner a month for 9 months then lost my job stopped my direct debit and forgot all about it.

Kept getting annual statements which showed the it was rising, last statement I had is showing its worth 10 grand plus, not bad for £70!!

I can cash it when i'm 50 or take full rights when i'm 65. Roll on 2017

Be careful with banks - they will only sell you their own products, not the best investments out there, and chances are they won't continually check for the best place to invest. With IFA's you can opt for one-off fees or commission.

Do your research.
