Nah, Dell are still shipping Vista, I'm currently working for a company who are going to roll out 10000+ Vista licences later this year, I would doubt they would spring for that if Billy Boy was scrapping Vista......

Vista is a nightmare to administer compared to XP. I hope it does go down the pan but I can't see it, MS have put too much into it.

JohnnyMars is spot on as to the main problem - XP was the only one to support both single and networked/administrated in one package (before that it was 98/2000/M'fucking'E with NT).

Vista is impressive to look at but a lot of things were changed unnecessarily and bugs are too prevalent and too hard to fix or update with the new setup.

Everyone's still up in arms about the fact that you never own a copy of Vista - just license it. Very clever from a money-making perspective, but that's about it. I still run XP and I don't have any plans to upgrade - Vista pretty much rapes systems that aren't of a post-2006 spec

I don't know anyone with a high opinion of Vista and if Claudia Schiffer came in with a Vista disc up her snatch and invited me to extract it with my teeth, I would think twice. Well maybe 1.5 times....or 1.3....... sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Anyway Mutts, the bad news is that when you try and get rid of the bitch it fooks your computer up and you have to find a new boot platform. The good news is that your graphics card disc will probably do it. confised confised

We're just dealing with one machine with XP and a laptop with Vista on it, both got Microsoft operating systems on them and really diificult to network them which we've got to do for work reasons.

Why everyone is complaining is that Microsft seem to have made it as difficult as possible to set up things which should be really easy to do. Things like using a printer through network.

I have just got a new comp with Vista on, I have a knackered comp that keeps breaking with XP on.

I am using the knackered XP one more than the fully working Vista one.

I have no idea how to get around Vista.

See my avatar.

Mutt, save all your important data, wipe your disk clean, then install whatever you want. The computer is just a bit of metal waiting for a program that makes it run.

If you were near at hand I'd have you up and running, Vista-free, in 20 minutes. But I'm not going to tell you what to do because talking people through stuff leaves too many openings for disaster. That's speaking from experience.
