That cheered me up no end.

Grangetown North reminds me of Grimethorpe. That used to be a nice place once but then Thatcher ruined it and now it's one of the worst places you can live...they're all so skint that they rob empty houses and pinch the pipes from the sinks. When something closes down that employs the majority of the towns community whether it being closing down the mines or the docks, then it's giving the place a death sentence.

Bloody Hell Salty man, I've just watched that video on Grangetown, feel even worse now, especially after looking at the league table.

I used to work for a shipping company down at Teesport in the early seventies before the A66 bypass was built, when you had to drive through Grangetown to get to Teesport, the place was heaving.

It had pubs, clubs and all sorts, like it said in the video, once the employment goes, it eats away at communities, and once people lose hope it seems like a downward spiral.

Anyway, theres something happening next Saturday afternoon...... now what was it again

C'mon you Pools!!

To be fair, Cargo Fleet, South Bank, and Grangetown were never what you might call highly sought after areas. They were like a kind of giant Wagger under the shadow of South Durham and Dorman Long. Even when the steelworks were in full swing and everyone had a job, those places depressed me (as did many other places in Tesside and Hartlepool to be fair). It wasn't the community or the people that depressed me, just the sheer industrial bleakness of the place.
