We all have our opinions of where we need to strengthen next season.

So lets play "Fantasy Pools' Manager"

Rules are simple, you can bring in players in positions where you think the team need strengthening for next season. Although called "fantasy" it has to be within what would be the actual manager's budget. So taking into account that will be probably around the 4 or 5 players being brought in, and of course determined by the actual clubs budget, although we wont know it, but ruling out the likes of Gerrard, Ronaldo, fabregas etc.

Your allowed a main target in the positions you determine need strengthening and a back up in that position, as all first targets wouldn't necessarily be made.

So I start it.

Goalkeeper.... Either Ross Turnbull (season loan from Middlesbrough)
.................. Tim Krul (Season loan from Newcastle)

Right sided midfielder.... Darren Currie yes I know he getting on a bit (bout34) but with Luton being relegated he could be available.

Forward......Andy Bishop (Bury) Would be my main target for new season.

Only 3 there but although know where i would strengthen or try to , not sure who I would actually bring in.

danny senda at right back. thought he was a class act at wycombe, saturday reinforced my opinion.

that albino kid perkins from rochdale who runs the midfield

i would also run the rule over a couple of the prolific scorers from the scottish leagues i.e Barrowman at Ross County.

Stephen Gillespie from Cheltenham would be a good signing, could play up front or right wing.
Mike Pollitt who is 4th choice keeper at Wigan would possibly be a good loan signing?

Boulding from Mansfield. Unfortunately his family is stinking rich and he doesn't need the money - he plays for Mansfield because he wants to, and he can afford to stay there.

I liked that Hereford winger, Ainsworth was it?

We've not had a proper right winger since i've been started watching Pools.

So we'll be using the yellow away strip more often then?

I would really love to see that system scrapped. It's depressing to go to a game, see a good player and know that one of the first questions you will ask of the opposition fans is "Is he yours?" confised

I concur. clappp

I concur again.

I have no idea which affordable players are any good but...

Left back: Very good new player
Right back: Very good new player

That's it. Unless Porter leaves, in which case let's the fook try Rae out sharpish!

This assumes rather naively that Monkhouse and Brown will be our wingers, two from Sweeney/Humps/Liddle our centre midfield, two from Nelson/Collins/Clark our central defence, and ALB our goalie.

Any players brought in in addition to those would have to be streets better than what we have otherwise what's the point.

Michael Boulding from Mansfield and Adam Le Fondre from Rochdale maybe these two are worth a chance next season. They've both scored lots of goals this season for there respective clubs.

We've scored as many as the play off teams, not sure the attack is the problem.

We have absolutely no chance of getting either of those players. Both are on the up and up, why would they want to come to Hartlepool?

Tim Krul is a good shout mind, and I'd like to see us sign Stephen Gillespie. I'd also like to sign two new full backs.

Have to agree about Sears paper talk says West Ham to make financial savings with possibility of Ashton being sold allowing Sears to make breakthrough into first team.

GK: Dimi or...if not available.
GK: Dave Martin (Liverpool as a permenant signing...why not? I can't see him getting in the Liverpool first team)

LB: David Lewington: We say it every year but it would be great to have him in our squad and he will give some much needed competition at left back instead of that prat Robbie Elliott.

CM: Tom Doherty (Wycombe): We need somebody to drive the midfield...could this man be the answer?

ST: Steve Brooker (Bristol City): City want to get rid. Ripped us apart at the Vic when Cheltenham played us, was very good at their place.

And my trump card would be
ST: Josh Klein-Davies (Bristol Rovers): He's just coming through at Bristol. He played up front in a game of few chances but he still looked to have that extra quality. It might pay off, it might not.

Obviously probably of none of those players will be available, some will be out of our budget and some may be available. Some may turn out rubbish, some may turn out good. But we need things freshing up. We don't need the bargain signings such as Elliott and Butdz. We need quality players who are HUNGRY.

I'm probably talking out of my arse but there ya go.

It's a spelling mistake - he means 'HENRY' I think. Any player with a first or surname of Henry. Like Lenny Henry, or Henry Cooper. Not that we'd want to sign them, it's just an example.

Saying that, I'm sure Lenny Henry's height would be useful when plucking those pesky crosses to the far post.

And Coops would surely be able to get good clearance on inswinging corners with a good right hook?

There you go, next season's goalkeeping crisis solved with two new signings.

Funnily enough was told other day that Dimi's girlfriend wants to return back to the town ( I not certain she from it) , but took word of person telling me and he would happily return if the club made a move for him, rather than come back and then commute to whichever club he went to.

Jo Kuffour i actually mentioned him as a signing for this season.

Wouldnt touch Luke Rodgers with a barge pole , dont know what it is about him. Though having said that he would get my support if he wore a Pools' shirt.
