Hers's my opinion on the player's who have turned out for the first team.

Jan Butdz"erfingers" Probably worse keeper I ever seen at Pools', has to be released and someone else brought in. OUT next saeson

Aaron Lee Barrett Has come in for the last 12 games or so and has played reasonably well , unlucky to be dropped after the Luton game and I would keep him as the second choice keeper. RETAIN next season

Jamie McCunnie Played well in early games at right back, I dont think he a midfielder never reproduced early season form after injury and appears to be a scapegoat for Wilson now dropped for no apparent reason. RETAIN next season

Robbie Elliott What excellent delivery has he ever made maybe Keegan can come and offer him some sort of backroom job at Newcastle. OUT next season

Willie Boland Some good games more bad though, legs probably gone and we need a better holding midfielder. OUT next season.

Michael Nelson Once more not as consistent as last season at fault for many goals this season. Not sure whether we should keep him or release him. He may be a surprise name on the release list.

Ben Clarke injuries cost him this season, played well in most games he started and should possible be one of the first choice centre half's next season. Could even be moved to centre midfield in place of Boland. RETAIN next season.

Gary Liddle Player who gives us options in that he is comfortable in most positions he is asked to play, could be used as Left back and actually play the ball out of defence, RETAIN next season.

Ritchie Humphries Already signed up, a player who although can give the ball away cheaply at times was worth resigning. RETAIN next season.

Richard Barker Played to long in many games should play for an hour or so or come on as a sub depending on how the game going. Can give us that something extra. Showed after being rested for a few games that he can be a better player. RETAIN next season.

Joel Porter With run in the team and playing to his strength's a player who can create something from nothing and score goals at important times. RETAIN next season.

Andy Monkhouse Did he fall out with Wilson ? Which resulted in him being out of the team longer than he should have been would always be in my team when fit. RETAIN next season.

James Brown We all know what he can do, maybe the forward alongside someone else should Porter decide to leave. Can be a threat attacking big centre halves with his skill. RETAIN next season.

Anthony Sweeney Already signed up and has been given a run in team of late, moved back into centre midfield and be a threat coming through to support the front two. RETAIN next season.

David Foley To lightweight when first broke into the team surprised the opposition doesnt seem to run at defenders as he used to. OUT next season.

Matty Robson To Inconsistent, to many chances.I used to defend him in that he was played out of position at left back but as said to inconsisent in his preferred left midfiels role. OUT next season.

Michael MacKay Still raw but worth keeping to provide something different and at least seems to have a bit of pace. RETAIN next season.

Sam Collins. Showed what no nonsense defending is all about, injuries and suspensions meant didnt play as often as would of. Made defence stronger..RETAIN next season.

Now there are probably players who not played who could also be released.

Scott Allison( Keeper) after some of the performances from Budtz and the fact he couldnt force himself into the first team squad may mean he not good enough as well.

Stephen Turnbull seems to have gone a little backward in not being able to force himself into contention though still young.

And as I only seen reserves a few times this season I wont comment on the players who seem to have made a name for themselves in that team, for example Rae, Haigh etc.

But there we go Fetish Bob's run down on this season , although still two games left cant see any player who I believe should be released convincing me otherwise.

My opinion of the season as a whole, To inconsisent as a team, to many players not performing as they can. But also to many played out of position, maybe we should have tried Budtz as a target man , he couldn't have been worse up front as he was in goal. Though at the end of the day, we have achieved what we all wanted in August in that we will still be a League 1 team next season.

What we need to do now is build on this and aim to push for a minimum of top 10 next season, even play off's. If we can attract some experiences quality players maybe even automatic. Though I believe that is to far and even to soon. Lets become a stable league 1 side and set something like a 3 year target( from next season) to reach the Championship.

Some may agree with this post some may not. It's just how I have seen the player's mentioned perform this season.

I think your spot on Fetish_Bob

Totally agree with that list except the mention of Nelson to maybe go? I dont think he will, It'll mean we'd be short in Centre Half's area, Especially with the injuries Collins and Clark have had this season

I just hope we dont see Antwi and Budtz in Pools shirts ever again!

Difficult to argue with most of those but I suspect that a fair number will become squad players - I certainly hope so.

We are desperate for a reliable keeper and a defence. We need two full backs urgently, without them next season will be no different to this one except we may go down. The performance of the back four has been abysmal, truly awful with the majority of the holes being due to the full backs either directly or indirectly because the likes of Nelson has had to try and cover for them and do his own job as well. Had we had two competent backs we would be challenging for the play offs now rather than sitting in no mans land.

And that's why I'm afraid Jamie must go too.

isn't there a bit of problem here

I agree with the original list and the sentiment
but aren't some of those in the 'to go' pile still under contract next season.

Theres a few players with contracts that should be outed, even with a contract they can still be released or given a free contract. Any player put up for a free contract would know they were wasting their time here and no doubt a few 4th division clubs would jump at the chance to sign some of our off casts.
