Must be a bit like Len Shackleton's 'The average Football Directors Knowledge of Football' chapter in his autobiography.

I am too tired and too ratty to do ratings.

ALB 5: First goal was dreadful to concede. Probably could have done better with the second. Got a hand to the second but I was covering my eyes because I just knew they'd score after we'd given ourselves a chance.

Humphreys 6: Didn't do too bad, could have got forward more and put crosses into the box.

Nelson 7: A good peformance, you were pretty close to the pitch at Crewe so you could hear him getting worked up so at least he cares.

Collins 5: Seemed a tad unfit and didnt have the best of games. Nelson seemed to hold the defence up on his own with Collins a passenger. (I still think he's a class act though)

Antwi 4: Unfortunatley out of his depth.

Monkhouse 7: To be honest, him and Porter seemed our only attacking threat today and I had all my hopes pinned on them two doing something special. Went on an amazing run which wrongly (and very lately) got stopped due to the linesman lately deeming the ball had run out...which it hadn't.

Liddle 6: Didn't control the midfield like Tinkler would have. It wasn't like their midfield was any good...

Boland 4: His corners were astonishing. Twice he failed to make sure the ball didn't go out for a goal kick. My last comment about Liddle is a bit wrong. Boland's job is to boss the midfield like a fit Tinkler would have...he didn't.

Sweeney 6: He really tried but things didn't come off. His link up play wasn't great and he could have helped out Antwi better. But at least he cares and he was trying his best to motivate the team but he's not Gordon Watson or Neale Cooper and I felt sorry for him when the rest of the team was taking no notice.

Porter 7: Well taken goal and a nicely timed run that left his clean through. He tried hard and he looked a threat when he had the ball but unfortunatley the strikers had to feed off scraps.

Mackay 5: Finds himself lost when the team isn't at it's best and feeing him balls.

Subs
Brown 6: Thank fook he's back. Held up the ball well and almost set up Porter nicely but he was brought before he got to his ball.

Foley 5: Some good quick running and a bit of effort shown but had no end product.

Robson N/A: Didn't get much chance to make an impession.

Hopefully Browns return will help us finish the season well. I don't know how well he did today, but he looked pretty sharp, if a little tired by the end on Wednesday, for the Reserves. Take a look if you have access to PoolsWorld (Providing you don't have any problems with 'licences' banghead )

Shame that they didn't catch Foley's goal, it was a good one, and would prove that he can score goals. Watch out for an appearance by Frank Reid.

boland- very poor lacked creativity all his passes were passed back
liddle- never really got involved i dont think he could trust boland to hold the midfield togther while he attacked
monkhouse-my motm looked threatning good forward and looked as if he actually cared
porter-had nothing to feed on had to track back to midfield to look for the ball
mackay- very poor if the team play poor he plays poor

To answer, the referee had a shocking ten minute period where most of these incidents happened.

Brown's yellow was a bit harsh but he did go in a bit aggressively.

What wound me up wasn't the Crewe player who got a yellow as his foul wasn't too footed.

Their was a two footed lunge seconds before that which got unnoticed, which really annoyed me.

Also, still in this ten minute period. Monkhouse went on a great run, a Crewe player tackled him and almost put the ball out (a quater to a half of it at most had crossed the line) but Monkhouse kept it in and got it back and was getting closer and closer to the goal until the ref very belatedly pulled play back long after the incident and to make it worse they got the throw in.

Where now out of this ten minute spell.

As for the dissallowed goal...didn't get the best view of it but I'm assuming it went out of play then came back in before it was headed, which wouldn't suprise me because Boland had already done that previously. No complaints from the Pools players.

Apart from that diabolical ten min spell the ref wasn't great but wasn't too bad.

I came to this conclusion too. I think the fact is that we're nowhere near as good as we think we are. Too many journeymen in the team in my opinion.

I came to this conclusion too. We only seem to beat very poor teams or decent teams having an off day. I think the fact is that we're nowhere near as good as we think we are. Too many journeymen in the team in my opinion.

If I’d been to the game which I might not have been so it probably couldn’t have been my Jonah influence that made them lose I might have seen that the Pool’s tactics might have been, if not a bit suspect, totally crackers.

They were the away side for God sake, and someone told me that they came out and in the first 10 minutes and were all over Crewe. At this point they looked like world-beaters. There was a mistake by one of the Crewe defenders and a good through ball that Porter picked up and had a shot on goal and it all looked good. The back line was on the half way line with everyone attacking.

Eventually after weathering the storm Crewe put a few passes together won a corner on the right hand side, the ball ran free and from where I might or might not have been in the ground it looked as though there was a miss-hit pass which trickled into the net for a soft goal.

They all just looked at one another. When you’ve spent all your time with everyone in the opposition’s half that’s not supposed to happen but often does, just like in the second half when the tables were turned, Crewe were on the attack all the time, lots of space behind the defence, the ball broke for Porter for a 30yd run and a goal which he took very well.

The pitch then started to affect play with several Pools player going down unchallenged because of the wet conditions plus the fact that it seemed a bit bumpy and attempts at passes were sliced and difficult to control. Crewe got on top of these conditions; Pools didn’t and started to look more and more ragged.

Antwi is a confidence player with no confidence. He got to work with his square head again with an attempted headed clearance going vertically up in the air for long enough for the opposition to get under it and challenge creating a situation that would’ve happened if it had been dealt with in the first place. He does things like this too often

The second goal came and that point Pool’s tactics of taking the game to the opposition started to look totally ludicrous and it honestly looked as though they were going to have 10 scored against them.

The revelation was Monkhouse for the second week in a row when I might not have been at the game to see them concede 3. He had a great performance even when heads went down and though he put himself at risk by losing it a bit in the second half he battled to the end.

For me the tactics were all to cock, no planB and planA being “let’s run up the pitch and try to kick the ball in their net”.

The question is, who is deciding on the tactics, in the middle of the first half especially it looked like it's some sort of Sunday League Pub Team Manager to me like.

Not that I was there like
