I have no problem with them getting promoted, but does it mean a certain element in our support will focus their entire season on those two matches....the 'finish fifth bottom, but we beat darlow' syndrome?

Of course. It's happened for years. No harm if it sells tickets, though

I'd rather we lost both games to Darlow and finished above them.

In his interview Houghton goes on about his investments in the states and like most businessmen mentions profit as the motivator. Will he get fed up with throwing money at DFC.
He hasn't got the football public behind him if their pathetic gates are anything to go by.

What's the odds the Air Darlo flight2007/8 will lose its undercarriage on final approach as it comes in to land, then ends up at best, in the play off ditch at the end of the runway.

Kev. Why did you bother posting that? You are usually far more interesting and entertaining than this.

Entertainment on here is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. As is interest.

I am of the old school that, while being very disappointed when we lose and equally elated when we win, is immensely enthusiastic, which now seems to be seen as some sort of mental illness in some eyes. I don't really want to dignify the 'optimism/pessimism' thing with a reference but when the game's over you can only look at the next one. I cannot be arsed to pontificate on who should be wearing the hair shirt this week.

I think what really led me to much head shaking and disbelief was when we won three on the trot and much of the reaction was 'we should have been doing that all season. Wilson out.'

No sign of joy at all.

Unbelievable.

If your car fails to start 7 mornings out of every 10, you don't celebrate when it does actually work, you're 'relieved' but still angry. You soon work out you've got a crap car that either wants fixing or replacing.

OK, then, entertain us  You're behaving like the cast of a Monty Python film I once saw interviewed. They said that every day the filming was mind-numbingly, stupefyingly boring...so much so that when they escaped in the evening and went to the pub, all they did was sit around saying..My God, wasn't it BORING to-day, especially the bit when.....

By the way...gremmlin, I was over at the headland yesterday and watched a ship coming in to dock. On the side it had written 'Hartlepool Furness', but on the back was written...'Panama'

Panama???

No, it can't be a clique if everyone is in it. Contradiction in terms, Dibble.
Obviously there are lots of sub-cliques, which reminds me of the old philosophical question, 'Does the clique of all cliques contain itself?' Or, to put it another way, does the Bunker contain the Bunker?

We have to tempt it up the drive like a whimpering, starving stray with morsels of screenwash and engine oil and only when she's gone.
