It's not the place it used to be, I haven't been around for that long but I remember when I first surfaced here there was hardly any football moaning....I mean talk, now look at it!

don't close it down permanently.just put it on the naughty step for 48 hours and ask everyone to think about what they've done.

When other pools fans ask me what boards i'm a member of and i say intotheblue and the bunker they always say that the bunker is clique that the older members only answer each others posts so it becomes the same old posters because new posters threads get ignored or ridiculed they tend to read and not post or stop coming on. bbolt

this clique bullshit is becoming boring

i only actually know a few on here and how many have asked the bus driver "are you no6 bus" and if you have how many have replied no i am the 4 7 12 1 etc

it is a message board that people can join and post and will get abused be they
new posters
old posters
regular posters
irregular posters
puffs
straights
bi
basically every fooker

oh and the occasional; fishing trip

Yeah... hardly any post gets all that many replies when you think of it and by the law of averages some posts will get more replies and others none at all. It's just that if you're new and you post something no-one replies too, you think people are ignoring you. But Snowy's right...folk are too sensitive.
My God, they should have been around in the days when I joined, and witnessed the stick new posters got then. They'd have been glad to be ignored. I only stayed on the Bunker out of obstinacy, so as not to say I'd been outdone:laugh:

you find a similar attitude on different boards people who know who they are talking to usually have more to say to each other it might look cliquey to new comers but those that stick it out become integrated eventually
one loid board i posted on just shuts down the thread when they see it is not one of their own
i dont think the bunker has gone that far looking at the example of the Wallsal fans etc
we need some excitement like a change of manager to boost normal traffic from the boredom of defeatist talk despite the form of late

MrI, What happened to the idea of a new look, Front page with news on it etc etc?

I dont know wether you pay for the hosting for this or not, But if you do it would seem a waste of your own hard earned cash just to shut it down for a few arguements! There what make message boards good

Naw, not going to shut it down, it was just me having a momentary hissy fit.

As for falling out; Gremmlin and I exchange many words on here but I don't think we've ever had a cross word face to face. The auld get's alright, if a touch miguided politically.

The other thing is that we all become caricatures of our real personas on a message board. Our personalities become exaggerated and we all to an extent play up to it. Fopr example, I admire Maggie but I don't really fancy her - well not much anyway.

i would consider myself a relatively new poster, and still finding my feet, but some of the posts i have made have received a few replies, and would like to thank the older members of the bunker for that,i would,nt say it was a clique it,s got to do with what you post, some of what i have posted has had a good response others have not,you either hit a good thread or you do not, also you find what interests other posters music, films etc;what type of sense of humour they have and try to imagine through bits of information you pick up off here what people look like i am probably wide of the mark how i imagine what you all look like,up until recently i have only met two other posters gremmlin and briefly salty and also seen mr bus from afar.

Don't close the bunker.... As far as I am aware this is an open forum and anyone is welcome to post...? It has been suggested that certain people may of stopped posting because of the content of the board being too negative? if this is the case then those who are sulking should contribute more rather than sulking. Like Mr ADG has asked - who are these fantastic posters who have stopped posting anyway?

I think sometimes you perhaps need a thick skin to post on here and to have an ability to stick up for yourself. I certainly don't think the quality of the forum is going downhill.... Maybe it is just me...?

The Bunker's a bit like an extended family. And like all families there are some folk you get on with well, others not so well.
As well as the football / music / politics / news etc. the board is often supportive & united in grief, for example Michael Maidens, united in happy occasions, for example births and the occasional win and united in humour e.g. The Seaton Carew Canoe to do.

I guess it's at an age and size (the Bunker that is, not any individual on it) that change is inevitable and maybe advertising will be needed to cover costs.

Whatever, I hope that it remains around for a long time.

Honestly I'm not. I've said all along that he's a good squad player but in my opinion he is not as good as his publicity machine make him out to be. Take that long run of games; he played some absolute stinkers in there but was an autmatic choice. He could have lay down in the dugout for 90 minutes and still got selected the next game.

Dont close the bunker down Mr I, although i dont post a lot, this is one of the first sites i log onto every day and i enjoy reading what other people have to say, sometimes it amuses me and other times it annoys me, but the fact its a message board means every one is entitled to voice their opinion whether everyone agrees or not. thats what makes the bunker what it is. I personally enjoy reading all the other posts. Your doing a cracking job sir, carry on.

just an idea but would other regular bunker visitors be interested in contributing to the running costs, a few quid each a year would be welcomed by admin' maybe??

It's not getting closed, I've put my rattle back in the pram.

Running costs have been growing steadily which is one of the reasons I need to redesign the whole thing and include a few (I said a few) adverts on the site. Not in a Rivals overload style more in terms of local businesses who want a bit of advertising.

I'm not keen on the idea of charging for use of the site, I wouldn't use a message board that charges, maybe we should do what Walsall do and have a voluntary paypal button, apparently that covers most of the costs for them and theirs are fairly substantial in comparison to ours.

Thanks for you comments thought. Ta

I was talking to our lass about not going out as much as I did as a youth, and missing pub banter. The thing is, the patter on here a lot of the time is a similar thing, which makes up for it.

The only thing that has changed on here recently is the level of personal abuse people give each other, even those who know each other. At the end of the day we're all Poolies, and this is the best forum going.

Here's my comments big gay Mariney sort of ringstretchery bloke.

Maybe the whole thing is skidding out of your grasp due to the amount of unabsorbed moisturiser and all that gay dancing you do.

Maybe some people can't take direct criticism when they try to be cleverer than they in fact are, and find themselves wanting. Good.

Truth is, you can always find your comfort on the Bunker and as long as the ethos says you are allowed to stand up for yourself and be respected for it, then long may it prosper.
