I suppose those sad individuals who say..."I like to see all the North East teams do well" will be happy  .........you'll never hear the last of it, God forbid they get to WEMBLEY

Look, I personally don't give a turd about the Borer - I won't lose any sleep if i read tomorrow that they got eaten by a ravenous swamp monster overnight - but can someone please explain in what way they were lucky? Unimpressive maybe, but lucky???
Well I guess they were lucky in that Sheffield's goalie didn't know which way his team was kicking, but they are also lucky in having a goalie that doesn't do that, lucky in having a team just good enough not to live permanently in the bottom three of the Premiership (unlike Sheffield, Sunderland, and a few others),or to cut a long story short - simply lucky to have a more successful set-up than Sheffield.

Disclaimer: I wasn't really paying that much attention to the match.

I have never thought of the Borers as just another football team, not since the formation of the Premiership. That was the point when it became an all consuming confederation of commercial sharks, hoovering up the surrounding areas floating fans. A successful boro would affect us badly in as much as they would be laying the foundations for attracting potential poolies away to themselves. It's the coming fans you worry about losing, as youngsters are constantly bombarded with the message that the premiership is the place to be and to be honest, they're a lot more receptive ( gullible) to the pressures of commercialisation. The new fans now have the money and the access and the Premiership is waiting round the corner to charm it off them.
I hope not, but I see a scenario in 10 to 20 years where clubs like Pools and Darlo will struggle as the young uns travel to watch Tees Valley Utd...on the new supertram...which is gonna have a stop at the gound.

I wouldn't even be able to name any football players at all in an era such as that. This board would be long gone, and my interest in football would have officially became extinct.
In fact, the only antidote to it would be to leave the country altogether, or else join up with the druids and get stoned at rock festivals as often as possible.

Before I moved to south yorkshire I would have wholeheartedly agreed with Snowy's remarks about Boro and supporting anything north east. Now as an exile you tend to get more and more affiliation to anything north east and it is not sad to want any individual or team from the north east to do well. Living amongst Sheff ( both colours) , Donny and Rotherham fans and listening to the constant barrage of shhit that pours forth from them , especially when it is directed towards the north east , tends to make you happy when they get pulled down a peg.
It's funny how you tend to change your opinion on such matters. You just find yourself defending the north east in general.

But football is about luck at practically every level Mr Mutley. If your team wins, you as a supporter are lucky.
The ball did follow an unlikely path I agree, but what I was getting at was if you have a crack at the ball and it's somewhere near on target then you put all the chances on your side. Luck often takes care of the rest. Fortune favours the bold.

Now if Borer had passed back to their goalie and the referee had got in the way and the ball had rebounded to a Sheffield defender who miskicked it so it bounced off the head of a team mate onto the bar then off the outstretched foot of an inrushing Borer player onto the back of a Sheffield player and back off the referee again into the goal, THAT would deffo have been lucky.
