MLS outfit Real Salt Lake have confirmed the signing of Scottish striker Kenny Deuchar.

The 27-year-old has left SPL basement club Gretna to take up the move to America.

Deuchar spent the first part of the season on loan at First Division title chasers St Johnstone before he returned to Gretna - where has scored six times in just 13 games.

Now Deuchar has agreed a deal with the MLS and he will also get the chance to continue his medical career in Utah - as he is also a practicing doctor.

"He was a player we talked to a few weeks ago and knew there was a possibility of something," Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis told the Deseret Morning News.

"We saw some video and liked what we saw, enough that Garth [Lagwerway, Real general manager] wanted to go over there and see him play.

"When you go to see a player play against Rangers and he scores twice, it tends to be a bit of an element. I think we are very fortunate to have Kenny Deuchar."
