I've looked at Pools fixtures for the remainder of this season, and split them into three groups of tough, could-go-either-way fixtures, and easier-looking fixtures. It looks a pretty even split, with what you could expect to turn out as defeats, then draws, then wins. Obviously football never works like that, and it is based on how certain other teams are performing respectively with regards to their home and away form (eg Crewe and Gillingham awful away, Bournemouth awful at home). It obviously depends on how Pools are set up to play, and if it's anything like last night I would reckon it gives us a realistic 39 further points to expect to add to the season's total, giving us 63. Enough to stop up, but not enough for the top six. I'd settle for that right now.

Tough
Leeds (H)
Carlisle (A)
Doncaster (A)
Southend (A)
Tranmere (A)
Swansea (H)
Brighton (A)
Forest (H)
Walsall (A)

could-easily-go-either-way
Yeovil (A)
Swindon (A)
Leyton Orient (H)
Southend (H)
Northampton (A)
Oldham (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Crewe (A)
Bristol Rovers (A)

easier-looking
Crewe (H)
Cheltenham (H)
Luton (H)
Port Vale (H)
Cheltenham (A)
Northampton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Gillingham (H)
Yeovil (H)
Millwall (H)

it seems not many of these fixtures changed categories

Tough
Leeds (H) draw
Carlisle (A) loss
Doncaster (A) loss
Southend (A)
Tranmere (A)
Swansea (H)
Brighton (A)
Forest (H)
Walsall (A)

could-easily-go-either-way
Yeovil (A) loss
Swindon (A) loss
Leyton Orient (H) draw
Southend (H) win
Northampton (A) draw
Oldham (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Crewe (A)
Bristol Rovers (A)

easier-looking
Crewe (H) win
Cheltenham (H) loss
Luton (H) win
Port Vale (H)
Cheltenham (A)
Northampton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Gillingham (H)
Yeovil (H)
Millwall (H)

the results went fairly much as could be expected, with the exception of Cheltenham.
There's definitely enpough winnable games, even without Brown for a few weeks to get enough points this season for safety

but the fact is, even though we're well clear of 3rd bottom Luton, we're not clear of 4th bottom Crewe despite their wretched run of results. I have a feeling they'll buck up at some point - we have to make sure when they do we're not within catching distance. The game against them could be huge, I have got this gut feeling......................

Thing is, all teams eventually pull out of their malaise, it's all a matter of timing...and what's to say the likes of Bournemouth don't have their minds focused by what's happened to them...everyone assumes they're gonna fall apart, lifes not like that...these events sometimes lead to those teams around the likes of Bournemouth taking their foot off the gas and assuming they're home and dry.

to be fair, I had yesterday's match down as a non-starter - but leading at half time again, then losing yet again, is something we all expect now, but why should it be? Even at half time, I knew the f*****s couldn't hold out, regardless of "circumstances" and "homer refs." This is football, and must be dealt with. Pools can't deal with it, ergo they can't deal with football matches, therefore those players (and IMO the manager) who can't deal with it must be booted out in the summer.
Mr I touched on a point in another thread, where he said the usuual "stalwarts" of the club (we all know the ones) who keep giving the ball away with misplaced passes, are the ones who should be culled in the summer. Until we get players in who at least stop doing that, then we'll get nowhere. I don't think many other opposition sides in League One who would want many of our "stalwarts".It really wouldn't cost the earth to have efficient replacements, but rebuilding has to be done in the summer or else the list of difficult-looking games will just get bigger.

Out of interest Mr Parmopooly, can you tell me who these stalwarts that keep giving the ball away are sctatchinghead
I can only think of Nelson, Humphreys, Sweeney, Porter, as stalwarts left at the club.

one of those gave the ball away yesterday at a costly time, although it isn't usually him who does it. Two of those you mentioned are bloody awful at surrendering possession of the football on a regular basis.

Hang about, on another post you claim Wilson is getting grief for rebuilding the team...... but if the majority of the players are now his signings doesn't that reflect more on his buys? And when the 'stalwarts' have sailed into the sunset, whose fault is it gonna be then...? sctatchinghead

At the end of the day Mr Snowy it's always going to be the managers fault whoever it is and the results will determine his fate, not the fans slagging him or all his buys off.
He's done loads of things I don't agree with and also signed a few dodgy ones, but As long as he's the manager of our team I'll support him, and when he's gone due to it either as a result of being a success or as a failure, I'll then support the next one, but it does take time to build a whole team, and don't forget my money went on us doing a Sunny Scunny and winning the league this season.

Do me a favour...name one player I've slagged off on here. I DON'T slag off players during or after the match, I don't boo players, as it serves no purpose whatsoever and they are playing for my team after all, no player responds to insults with a positive performance. I will not join in the mob mentallity where players such as Gibb and Bullock are made tha butt of endless insults either. I don't go to destroy players, what's to be gained?.... NOWT!
However, the person who carries the can is the manager, even when the team plays badly, it's his fault, he's there to 'manage' and no matter how unfair it may seem and even downright cruel to the person concerned, it's like every other job where if the management can't use the 'assets' productively they carry the can.
Optimism, pessimism or Uncle Tom Cobleyism will not have one ounce of influence on the outcome...but it's good to get it off your chest.

No problem.... now get your arse over to the other post where you've just launched a misplaced tirade against me.... a retraction would be nice...for the record.
