And most would be very happy with a midtable finish.

But what would you say, if we, say, survived this season by 9 points, and the side that finished fourth bottom was Bournemouth? And we finished 5th bottom.

How would you view DW?

survival this season would be great ,there is some very good teams in this league who can afford to buy players for up to 1million,so we have to be realistic.

There are also some cack teams in this league who don't have two tuppences to rub together (although if they did have then I'm sure that there are plenty on here who'd pay to watch them).

Where do you expect us to finish this season Mr R?

At the moment I wouldn't like to say.

After the Cheltenham debacle I would have said bottom four without a doubt.

There have been small signs since that we may not be in as much trouble as was then feared, however with the current inconsistency I wouldn't "expect" anything and would instead just hope that we can put in enough decent performances to outweigh the bad ones in order to see us finish clear of the relegation places.

A couple of years ago I expected us to be too good to go down so I'm not building my hopes up this time around cos some of our performances this season have been worse than they were under Scott.

Only Cheltenham which was similar to the Blackpool game which saw the end of chuckle has been close to some of that bilge, but nothing has slumped to depths of the cup performances at home to Dagenham and Tamworth.

We have played some decent stuff at times as well this season, under Barry even our rare wins were ground out and ugly.

Plus Morecambe, Hereford, Doncaster and doubtless more which I've tried to blank from the memory.

We have played poorly at times but under Scott we lost to fooking Tamworth. We were stuffed at Doncaster but they were excellent I was away for the Morecambe and Hereford games but I doubt it was anything close to Tamworth. Did either side have a player who scored and was in excess of twenty clem for example because Tamoworth did!!

Wilson maybe not be somes cup of tea but he's like Sir Alf Ramsey compared to Scotty.

I few reminders of Martin Scotts tactical wizardry from that Blackpool game;

1) Gavin Strachan on the left wing
2) Richie Humphreys at centre back.

I rest my case

No we weren't. 2-0 was about the right score. That's not a stuffing.
Our 4-0 against Luton was a stuffing.

Mr Head, I haven't seen Pools so comprehensively stuffed for years. We could not have complained if we had lost 6-0. They missed five or six real sitters mostly in the second half, we cleared three off the line 2-0 was extremely flattering. We didn't have a shot on target in the match Donny had 27 attempts on goal, the stats were a pretty true reflection in this case. We had nowhere near the dominance that Donny did or play as well Donny did against us last Saturday we just took more of our chances.

That's not to say that the Luton game wasn't a 4-0 hiding but Doncaster were more than 2 goals better than us on the night I think the players and management would admit that.

We were toothless in Scotty's season, he thought Mark Proctor was the answer to the striking problem of Joel being crocked and that he was as good or better than Adam Boyd. He wasn't. By a country mile.

Seems like now we've got three good centre backs, there's a better than fair chance that we'll stop haemorrhaging daft goals and move up a bit.

If we can finish this month with a few more points say, ten, ok laugh if you want, we've got four home games in March that might see us safe. Although one is Swansea....

Thats 16 points we need to get asap.

Lets hope we dont get the 52nd point in May.

Three teams are already down, we won't need as many 52 points as we are playing to avoid one position. Too many teams are involved for one of them not to have shocking run. You are saying that from Northampton downwards (11th place) the worst points haul a team will get from the final 16 games is 12 points. You are also saying the likes of Crewe will take over twenty points.

I think it's going to be between 45-48 points now. Obviously that wouldn't be the case if Luton and Bournemouth hadn't lost the points but it's now no longer a normal season in terms of survival points required.

Trust me :sweeeet:

It's not normally the case that three teams are already fooked by this stage though so nobody is likely to go and run emerge from the bottom three and pull others into the shit. As I said not every side in the bottom half is going average on and around a point a game during the run in far too many sides are still involved I wouldn't be surprised if 4th bottom ended up going down with about 45 points. The last time we went down MK Dons were rock bottom at this stage and still nearly stayed up, this is not going to happen this time with Bournemouth for example now being 17 points behind us.

I am taking no notice whatsoever of the points deducted, because they prove nothing. Technically they obviously don't count, but it'll be a good measure to add them back on for a true review of the season.

I maintain my position. At no moment did I feel Pools were being overwhelmed. I just felt they were impotent. We were strangled not stuffed. None of the Donny supporters have spoken to consider it was a stuffing either; they just thought it was an efficient, satisfying win.

Anyway, if that's as bad as it gets then we really don't need to be that anxious.
