No, they have to be sweet pancakes, Parmo. It can't be a proper meal cos the idea is that you then give it up for Lent.

Not that I intend to, mind

PMT's right....why have boring old lemon ones when you can have crepes suzettes? Here's a good recipe.

First make some pancakes and put them on one side. Then, in a wide saucepan put 4oz sugar, 4oz butter, juice of 2 oranges, and finely grated rind of one orange and stir until butter melts and sugar dissolves. Simmer gently for 10 mins. then put pancakes one by one into this sauce, folding each in 4 and then transferring to a warm serving dish.

When all the pancakes have been folded, stir 2 tablespoons each of orange liqueur and brandy into the remaining sauce in the pan, add the waiting pancakes, or crepes as they are now called, heat them back up in the sauce, and ..um... eat them.

Apologies to metricated readers

That was brilliant!

But...

This is what Mardi Gras is really about.
I wonder what my friend Cristina is up to. REMEMBER HER KEV? She's the one you didn't get to see!

I haven't seen that for years, and it's still superb.

But it led me off at a tangent, looking at other Kenneth Williams videos, I found this one quite interesting, what do you all think, if you can be bothered to watch all 7minutes of it.
