Fair play to him for having the balls to go forward though. Besides the lads ok, he didn't need asking twice when I asked him for support.

No, I think he's genuinely doing it to draw attention to the issues faced by the guys out there. I have no idea what he's doing with the money but I do know he made a £50'000 donation to Headley Court. No publicity.

I saw him gettin interviewed about it and he was as genuine as hell about it - shit scared when he was over there but FULL of admiration and respect for the troops - he does a lot of this stuff cos of his 'hard man' persona - in reality he can't act for shit but he does a very good documentary type show like this.

Listen, I'm not name dropping for the sake of it but he was incredibly helpful when we did the Brothers in Arms thing. He even did a VT from Afghanistan during the press conference. Behind the scenes he did a lot of door opening and string pulling. Yes he might well be getting paid for this but he put it together himself and for the right reasons. Moreover none of us know where the proceeds are going. I know the 'Ultimate Farce' thing is a bit of a laugh but the bloke is genuine about this subject.

It was compelling viewing and gives the every day man on the street first hand information on what it is like for our soldiers. It is for the viewer to make their mind up on the politics or war and the British army, Ross Kemp only presents (until now) actual facts. The only opinion he offers is how frightening it is and how brave the solidiers are. Good journalism I reckon.

I've not seen the programme and have never been a fan of Ross Kemp, but if he has been in a war zone getting shot at then I can certainly take him seriously and my respect for the guy has increased.

What the hell does it matter who it was doing the show or how much he got.
He was there showing us how these brave men and women of this country are doing agree with the war or not they go were they are told and do this country and us proud while back home there familys are treat like sh*t. bad housing. paying council tax. and no family back up.
Great programme Ross Kemp this goverment should hang there heads in shame the way they are armed forces are treat.

There was one statement he made which is absolutely true:

"unless you've experienced war you cannot have even the vaguest impression how frightening it is and the guys have to overcome that fear and run towards the danger"

Very true, the internal battle of every soldier is the hardest one to win.

Respect to the fella. As katcha suggested, he could just as easily have got his agent to set him up with a nice cushy job where he could sing/skate/sit in a house for the entertainment of the easily entertained. But he did this instead.

Mind you, he will always have this on his CV...
