I've done the virus thing,ad aware, search + destroy thing
de-fragged

add or remove programs

how do you know what processes are running and how do you stop em?

is it wise to remove IE if you never ever use it?!

any suggestions pretty please?!

go to start/run and type msconfig, go to startup and work your way down the list turning stuff off you don't need (if you're unsure of what something is type it into google, there's a few sites devoted to doing this and give descriptions of what processes do)

Click OK and restart, you'll get a pop up telling you you made changes with msconfig and do you want to keep them, keep the changes and tick/untick the box for it not to show you again, should speed up your startup and general pc by loads.

I've got the same problem at home Mr Salt.

I've been told that it may be to do with having 256 DDR and new stuff needing more. sctatchinghead

But I don't really know what that means or an easy way to fix it. :uhoh:

Basically it's just unticking some boxes, do a google search for "msconfig startup guide" and it'll guide you through step by step.

Windows defender is a good program, get it free from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... g_id=10134

you need a real copy of windows to use it though, basically it gets rid of any spyware/malware (bad stuff) from your pc and guards against it in the future

I wouldn't recommend uninstalling internet explorer, if you don't use it just leave it.

Ripper - This means you need more RAM (memory), you'd need to open the pc and fit extra stuff in. You'd have to check if it was compatible etc, get someone to have a look at it, it's cheap enough to do but can break your full pc if you don't know what you're doing

Anyone has any other questions just ask, it's my day job to run a team doing this stuff anyway so I can get any info you need.

Cheers

Yeah can use it with your PC running depends on how much crap you have on your computer but doesn’t usually take to long we use it at work so don’t get caught on the.

This might help.
on your browser go to tools/options on the temp files section click settings. view files.
now there will probably be a zillion files come up, select all and delete all (this is all shite and cookies stored on your comp)

Or you could just turn it off and turn it on again.
I'm no expert like.
