I shouldn't worry. Hodgy might have gone but Sputnick is still around to do plenty of damage. He's a bull in a china shop that guy.

Houghton: At the start of the season I said that I needed 100 per cent commitment from my senior management team. I cannot reconcile this requirement with the manager’s discussions with another club. It has to be Darlington Football Club; first and always.

So Houghton wants a manager who's MORE committed to Darlo than Hodgy?
Good fooking luck to him!

I must admit SuperQuaker has a point

I like this attitude

Its just a shame Hodcroft didnt take the same stance after our cup game with blunderland when scotty was on the back page of the mail with his 2 kids, one in our shirt & the other in red n white.Shoulda been instantly sacked.

If he was that committed then surely he wouldn't have spoke to another team.

Passionate about Darlington- definitely
Committed to Darlo- clearly not

There's a difference.

I think only a fool would dismiss all offers out of hand without even listening to them, committed or not. It's a case of "I'm committed. Now come and change my mind if you can."
But my, or rather Super Quaker's point was, which manager are they hoping to find who is more committed? Do they even know what they mean by committed?

It could backfire though....we all know what usually happens when ex players turn up!!!!

I'd rather Hodgy was in charge for the game!!!! :sweet:

True - I'd PREFER Hodgy obviously, but that won't now happen, Ball & Scott is a pretty good alternative (& Scott was a manager not a player so your argument may be flawed - I use the term manager for Scott advisedly)

If I recall correctly the last two ex-managers to visit the Vic with their teams were Newell (Pools won a ding-dong battle, Shuggie scoring with a rocket powered shot) and Cooper (we whupped Gillingham 3-1).
True Luton won at the Vic the season after, so maybe the returning manager theory only works on the second visit!
