here, here. Top man is Mr Barron, very friendly and likeable chap - but more importantly a model professional footballer and a brilliant example for the kids to follow in terms of application, dedication to the sport and committment to Hartlepool United FC.

He should 'take a bow' in front of the fans on Friday night. So we can all acknowledge his contribution as a player to the team over the last 10 years.

There was an interview with Barron a few months ago when he was talking about coaching. He was talking about how he hopes to maybe work with Butterworth and Stevo on a few of the matches while still getting the odd game for the reserves. He didn't sound like a bloke who had any plans to play again, especially as the youth team tend to play their matches on Saturday lunchtimes. By taking the youth team coaching role full-time he has effectively ended his playing career.

Good luck to you Micky, and thanks for all of your tremendous work in the past decade.

I think his career was effectively ended towards the end of last season, by a certain Mr Wilson.
I know you are the man to correct me, but he didn't make the 16 at Wycombe after recovering
from an injury and didn't figure in any of the games after that.
Although according to your excellent site, he did make the bench for the Walsall game.

...and after all these years at Pools, a certain Teesside paper still refers to him as the 'former Boro player'

Well done Mickey Barron a born leader on the pitch and I'm sure this will transfer to a coaching (and eventually a managerial) role.
Hope that this doesn't spell the end of being an expert summariser for Pools World.

I love how they do it with every player they mention who has the slightest connection with the borers, the fact they may have had some tenuous connection takes precedence over every other thing they may have achieved subsequently.
