Tinks really does look past his sell by date. Far too injury prone now. And although never blessed with great pace, has now lost whatever pace he did have.

Shame really, but I do think Tinks time is up.

Back to full fitness I reckon that Tinks can still do a good job for Pools.

Although I reckon he would be behind Sweeney, Liddle and Boland.

Besides which, that wasn't what I was getting at with this thread... banghead

assuming he was fit i would rather have him as cover for the centre half position than liddle. i thought the silver fox did ok when he played there a couple of years ago.

Well I hope the scouts chose only the Hereford and Shrewsbury games and now think he's cack. I'd be interested to know why he didn't go if he had the chance and I sincerely hope he stays. Would he have accepted the Captaincy if it was in his mind to leave??

With Derby only a point outside the playoffs do you not think that they might try to go for somone a bit more experienced to go for a promotion push?

Add Walsall as well to that list. They had the one type of striker that really causes Nelse problems; a big, strong, yet quick center floor board. Thankfully, we don't meet many of them!

accepting the captaincy these days means nothing, as mr humps discovered.

Well yes, but Humps has been the Captain really for the last three seasons seeing as Mickey Barrons only started about one game in four. Mickey Nelson accepted the Captaincy the other week.

Coupla things,
Tinkler to darlo - Didnt Tinks twat Kevin Ball last season in Durham ? If he does get the darlow job I cant see that coming off.
Nelson getting a good reception if he returns - Only if he leaves to go up a division & returns in a cup game, unlike Judas Westwood.
Last but not least, stop singing Nelsons praises, someone might hear & we dont want others to realise how good he is

Errrrr I think you will find Nelson about 3 years ago had the biggest dummy spitting hissy fit of all, did he not?

Which makes him even better in my eyes. His agent had touted him around and promised him the world but Pools did not fall in with the plan having not been consulted and Nelse was advised to knuckle down. Rather than throwing his rattle, he just got his head down and proved to be one of the best centre halves in the country.

I meant outside the top flight, I tend to ignore the premier league.

of course there has been a lot of water under the bridge since then. wilson may be a lot keener to keep the great man now he has seen him play. pools are no longer under pressure to sell to lift the embargo. and nelson himself may like the idea of captaining the side to promotion.

That's the bit I like. It can't have been enjoyable playing for Pools last season. That may be 100% different now. They used to boast about enjoying every minute of training etc etc but as the shit creeps up your neck times must have become very tense, especially with Martin Borman, I mean Scott, in charge. Also we have to remember - we don't have to sell any more. Kenny H said so.

Nelse is a legend... I hope he stays! But if he does go to a higher level... Which he does deserve, Then all the best to him!

and like someone said he'll get a cracking reception when he comes up here again, Thats for sure!

Wouldnt surprise me if he did move, That he would come to the Vic to watch us play still on the occasional day off he might have

I'd have no problem with him moving on when his contract expires. He would be a huge loss but he agreed to play for us for a given period of time and at the end of it he fully deserves to play at championship or better.

our white wolf is named Nelson after the great man himself. When I asked the bairn to think of a tough name for our mutt, straight away she said,"Nelson - after Micky Nelson"! So if you're reading this Mick, our dog wants to meet ya!!!!
Can't see the resemblance meself. I'll put a pic up later.

Nelson is easily in the top 5 Pools players that I have ever seen. He is consistently outstanding puts 'quality' defenders we've had previously like Graeme Lee in the shadow
