Around 10 years ago there were a couple of pools boards ITN probably being the most remembered. Whatever happened to all those posters, have the all gone canoeing or just changed their name?

Can't remember when I started posting on ITN, probably '99 as Sugarinmytea, changed to Aptid around 2000 possibly.

I'm still around. I was on the original mailing list from about 1995 onwards - before ITN was born I think

The same people are probably still floating around somewhere, just all changed usernames over the years.

I found some thumbnails of very early websites on a old hard drive a while back....

Think the first is from season 1995/96

I was aroiund on the boards from about 1996, on the old division three(?) messageboard quite a lot, posting as Rik. That was a tremendous messageboard, once changing its name to the division three cheeseboard. Full of obscure and surreal humour. DJ and ECG were regulars too. Oh the days when I didnt have to actually do much work when I was there.

I was on the Mailing List, and also the board when the ITN one was hosted on InsideTheWeb, and the last time I changed my moniker was because I used to post under my real name and then someone posted claiming to be me.... Other than ECG, am I the one with the longest-standing name then?!

Although I do have to admit to a couple of aliases that have been used at times. Specifically, The General and Purple Floyd....

Who nearly killed me by driving on West View Road on the right hand side thinking it was a dual carriageay?

Heh heh yes. I did nearly kill you. And if there was a car coming along in the opposite directions it would have been curtains. I would have jumped out at the last second, had it all planned. I'd forgotten about that til now, cant remember exactly who was in my car at the time, just being rather embarrassed. You could be one of about six so come on, let me know?
I thoroughly enjoyed playing and training for ITN; it was fun

I was on the mailing list as well. Nick i am called. I think I was then as well. I must have only been about 15 then. you'd look in your inbox and there'd be loads of pools-related e-mails. it was good.

I remember they had a page in the programme where Paul Mullen would choose stuff from the mailing list and put it in there. I was over the moon when I got in. I remember pondering on whether or not Micky Barron had played his last game for us (of his initial loan spell!)

It's a sad sight to see the comparison of ITN pre-Newellgate and the today.

Newellgate, hmmmm, mistakes were made on all sides. I take my share of the blame.

As for Rivals, they only have 365 to blame. When they came in they stripped Rivals of any/all it's development staff, the good ship Rivals drifted in the seas on the internet for two years with no investment, no development, no staff - apart from a guy called Trevor.

Now, well now it's just a place for more 365 adverts, I know revenue from adverts is supposed to be virtually non existent, but the rivals template directs people to other 365 sites, and the powers that be know there are several sites who still have their main internet community on a rivals message board.

However the new design may be the final nail in the coffin, somehow they've managed to take a step backwards. Its a world away from the year leading up to the launch. I brought the Liverpool publisher on to the network with me, we went down to a Rivals conference in Birmingham, all expenses paid, in those days they were paying money out to publishers before the sites even went live. Freebies left right and centre, money for commercial activities, weekly phone calls with your divisional publisher, that's why Rivals took a huge market share very quickly.

Vital have the same idea, but I'm afraid they are doing all the right things but in a saturated market. The people in charge are genuine and they are working their bollocks off, but the competition from official sites and press sites is just too much these days.

I'm 37 man. I can hardly bend down to take my worn slippers off before making myself a hot water bottle. I'm thinking of getting a stair lift but the wife keeps refusing, says she's not strong enough.
I play the occasional five a side contest in newcastle with work, loads of young people chopping each other down, me standing there shouting, doing the occasional header or kick up the pitch. Same as usual. As long as I complete one overhead scissor kick in a match I'm happy, regardless of the score.
Good to hear you're still alive; probably because you havent been in a car with me very much since.
