Load of shite!

Lewis Hamilton!!! He won now't and bottled it at the final race.
James Toseland! A class rider no question but he had a superior bike to everyone else but a far better option than the above.
Paula (gutter pooh) Radcliffe??? Firstly she doesn't have a personality, secondly whats she done?
Jonny Wilkinson? Won nowt.
Jason Robinson? Won now't.
Andy Murray!!! Why???
Christine Ohuruururururhu.. that black bird who didn't take the drugs apparently. Won now't worth winning.

For me there's only one option to win this pointless award, Joe Calzaghe. He's fought and beat every single person in the world over the past ten years. Ricky Hatton should push him close f he beats Merryweather next week.

One of the young lasses who ride bikes should win it - Cooke/Pendleton. World beaters and part of the best British cycling squad ever. Any of the gold medal riders for the lads would also be good. Somat to be really proud of. Robinson from Leeds though which is worth an award in my book.

Mr I touches on a point that I have thought for a while. Award should be called 'Sports Person of the Year' and not 'Sports Personality of the Year'. 9 times out of 10 the winner doesn't have a personality, let alone one worthy of an award, and surely the award is for their prowess or achievments during the year, not their 'personality'.

Lewis Hamilton will win it. For pure ability and putting excitement in a sport that hasn't had it in years (and not just because of his nationality) is great.

To say that Calzaghe is unbeaten is only because for 90% of his career he's been pitched against unmatched opposition. 20-odd of his fights are against people no-one will have heard of. To do what he did recently was impressive, but he's not Hatton quality (that is to say, if Hatton beats Mayweather - now that's PROPER opposition).

P.S. If saying Paula Radcliffe having a kid after 27 hours of labour and THEN winning the New York Marathon (and coming 2nd in the Great North Run) within 8 months (and much more than that without training, given she was preggers) is "nothing" then one needs a head examination

Joe Calzaghe has beaten
Chris Eubank
Robin Reid
Richie Woodhall
Jeff Lacy
Charles Brewer
Byron Mitchell
Mikkel Kessler

Calzaghe is undoubtedly the best in his division & has been for 10 years. To say he is not Hatton quality is ludicrous. If you watch the Jeff Lacy fight you will see arguably the best display by a British boxer that theres ever been. Not against canon fodder either Lacy was supposedly the man to rule the division and bookies favourite.
Hatton is fortunate that the money men put the Mayweather fight on.Calzaghe wasnt as fortunate when Roy Jones was the big draw.

I used to be big into F1 but not any more. it's tedious and the only thing Hamilton has changed is the name and the colour. He's British and good but not on the same planet as Schumacher or Senna. Lets not forget either that he's in way the best car so lets see him do it is a lesser car the way Schumy did in the 94/95 Benetton. Besides, he bottled it in the last two races, particularly the last. He needed to do no more than just stay out of trouble and finish in the top six.

All it does for me is remind that Christmas is bloody coming - as if we didn't already know.

The only good part about the show is looking at the bit where it shows you who has died over the year.

Me and ProudPoolie discussed this and we think a Ricky Hatton Victory over Mayweather on Saturday night and it'll be fresh in peoples minds. So I'm gonna say depending on the result, Hatton to win Sports Personality Of The Year IF he defeats Mayweather

Otherwise I reckon it'll be Lewis Hamilton

Its really surprising that you've admitted to discussing THAT shite. Because you are the first two people I have heard say they care. rolfl

and there was me thinking this was a messageboard! Which allows discussions sctatchinghead
2 pages on this topic also says more than "two" people have cared about it!
