I wouldn't say it was inexcusable, he had a defender breathing down his neck, goalkeeper closing him down and had just run 50 yards with the whole country watching him. It was hardly a tap in.

compared to last year where he'd have been six yards clear of some 15 stone bruiser of a centre half and probably slotted home with ease. Sadly we are up against good players this season and some are failing to understand this.

He was never gonna score, despite what it may have looked like, the defender was forcing him away from goal all the time and when it became a battle of shoulders there was only gonna be one outcome.
