Winston Churchill once said ( something like) " It takes a brave man to stand up and talk, but it takes a braver one to sit down and listen"

and if people don't start listening

One of my favourites at the moment is the 'fuel surcharge' on flights.

Now excuse us for lateral thinking but BA spend 174m quid a year on fuel. Now if that doesn't give them some clout with their suppliers it's time they started looking around.

BA : 'We aren't paying what you want, we're looking to spend our 174 million quid with someone else.'

Fuel supplier : 'Yeah OK, go on then, bugger off.....'

But rather than that unlikely vignette (I've been looking for a great word since Mr Sarnia's 'erudite') taking place they just fleece the customer. If I ever get on another BA flight it'll have to be out of a warzone. I'll pay on credit card and say the food made me sick or summat and not pay.

but, you can be sure that the piss-trickle of C02 emmitted by British citizens in comparison to the rest of the planet will be heavily taxed.
It will save the planet, you know.
Taxing British people is the way forward to saving the environment.

Fuel surcharges are a total con - ALL airlines hedge their fuel purchases in the forward market so know exactly what they are going to pay for fuel when you book your flight. There are no grounds whatsoever for fuel surcharges. All they should do is have fares that go up and own with fuel prices that are shown BEFORE you book your flights rage
