This is the latest Virtual Festivals newsletter,I guess theyve got no news to report.I also reckon the story is likely to be miles away from the comments original context.
In 1989 I saw Elvis Costello headline Glastonbury & it still rates as my favourite festival set.

Quote:
Elvis Costello has sensationally claimed his 2005 Glastonbury performance put him off playing in England again for life!

The 53-year-old songwriter played an early evening Friday slot two years ago and when he asked about how it went he said: “Fucking dreadful! I don’t care if I ever play England again.”

The expatriate has lived in America for 25 years but when speaking about his Worthy Farm appearance ‘Oliver’s Army’ singer said: “That gig made up my mind I wouldn’t come back.”

However Costello did return for a gig at Liverpool’s Picket Club back in July, so don’t count him off any rumour list just yet.

There's a full interview with our Declan in December's Mojo - the guy's always been up his own behind but he's not happy just now. That's what comes of ditching a pogue and taking up with a smooth jazzer. Fame has certainly gone to Mr Macmanus' head. Spike - more like Spite

I dont think he'll ever get as good as Spike again.

I have to confess to only listening to The Delivery Man once since I got it but I will give it a thorough airing this week.
The last 3,
The River In Reverse
Delivery Man
North ???

While we're at it whats your opinion on The Juliet Letters ? Ive long thought Im about the only person who likes that record.

Ive listened to Delivery Man again twice today & appreciated it a lot more than when I got it,but still not as much as Spike.Probably because I wasnt particularly into EC before I saw him at Glasto in 89 & it was part of the Spike tour so that album just happened to be a significant time & place to strike a chord with me.
Get Happy I will have to seek out as I havent heard the album, although I like the couple of songs I do know from it.
Ill check out 'River in Reverse' later in the week & let you know what I think.
