Stephenson

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Good move for him, hope he gets regular game time and comes back a better player for us.
Also, hopefully means someone coming in as RB or RWB.

Yeh obvious when he didn’t make bench after Benn injured Grayson doesn’t rate him, makes sense to hopefully get him off wage bill and give him some practice lower down

I said when Benn got injured and some assumed Stephenson would come straight into the team that he was more likely to be sent out on loan.

Stevo looked like a bright spark in a bad side when he first came into the team, but youthful enthusiasm will only get you so far.
Grayson has raised standards at Pools. Regular first team football is the best thing for Stevo at the minute.

at least at buxton he has gone to a club only one level below pools. more chance for him to learn there or show the club what his real capabilities actually are. dropping any lower at his age will learn him and the club nowt.

If he comes back showing no sign of improvement what then….this could be a make or break move.
It’s what he does….. he’s a terrier.

Definitely, he's got potential but I thought he came back from his last loan a worse player than when he first broke into the side.

bit like dodds before his injury. thought we had a player for the future there as well who might go on to even better things.

When he first got into the side his enthusiasm and fitness were obvious as was his liking to get up and down the wing and put crosses in.
It seems the attacking side of his game has been coached out of him with his preference lately being to charge forward then stop and play the ball backwards, so that's a big part of his game f*cked. He's not the best defensively either but defenders generally improve as they get older. As things stand he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.

think you have hit on something there regarding young players in general. know its a team game but feel a lot of kids get individual played knocked out of them for tactical reasons. fact is they were signed at the outset for the strengths they had and not any weakness in their game. ok try to improve a lads weakness but not at the expense of the real talents they might have. so many teams now are carbon copies of another but with better players but very few have there own identity anymore.

God knows what modern day coaches would have done with the likes of Stan Bowles, Frank Worthington, George Best, Duncan McKenzie, etc- the beautiful game coached into the functional game.
