Anything is possible and of course money is the obvious draw, but there could be a number of factors beside money…..maybe it could be to cut hi# travelling time if closer to home and even the general atmosphere at the club.
Ambitious clubs attract ambitious players and from a fans viewpoint a cloud has hung over us, so how did it affect the players with such a total clear out in the summer.
Maybe the ‘ mood music’ At the club was out of tune…?

How do you stop a player who's out of contract from leaving?

You keep him happy you pay more than rochdale, something is seriously amiss when rochdale can take your top player. Doesn't look good

Trouble is, we never see the full picture behind the scenes.
In theory it’s straight forward keeping a player..in theory…but ….there are a number of factors that can affect things and not necessarily football related…like any job.

Exactly, nobody knows the full details about why Mani turned down a new contract with us, maybe more money, closer to where he wants to live, perceived better chance of promotion, how the team is going to play and expectations of himself, is he happy with his personal and social life, etc etc
There's better players at all levels who'll leave clubs and disappoint fans when their contracts expire, and sometimes when they're still under contract, so a player leaving a club is hardly a disgrace.

Why do we always assume a club is at fault when a player leaves.
Some problems can’t be solved just by throwing money at them…..but it always helps….that said, the vacuum the fans were all operating under didn’t exactly help either.

It's all about money. Every dog has its day sooner or later in the lower leagues and this is Rochdale's. We might think they're little old hopeless Rochdale but they're not.

The Ogden family, who own Rochdale now, are loaded. Sir Peter Ogden was an investment banker and co-founder of Computacenter, a massive multinational company. Since he sold his stake in that company he has given millions away to charity and set up a business that owns motor sport tracks all over the UK and Europe. Let's be honest johnson has been garbage so far, whether its down to lack of chances or just not up to it, he isn't a patch on mani d. We will regret letting a 15 to 20 goal player go especially to a rival. Hopefully johnson will come good but at the minute its not looking likely.

as far as johnson is concerned he is no better watching him live than on DAZN and looks a weakness in the team but grayson keeps on picking him and he hasn,t done a bad job has he.

His record before arriving here was nothing to write home about, but those around him never racked up a reasonable amount of goals to complement his efforts.
