DAZN problems

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

DAZN problems

Postby fckpoolie » Fri Aug 08, 2025 8:27 pm

I just tried to subscribe to Dazn for the new season and it won't bloody let me.

I live in Denmark and last season they provided a work around where you could register the UK as your home country and still watch games anywhere in the world (so I could watch Pools here in Copenhagen, or on holiday or on business trips abroad).

It was about 180 quid for the season - but compared to the old days of checking the BBC scores every two minutes on my phone and only getting home to Hartlepool two times a year to take in a home game - it was bliss.

it looks like it'll be the same problem this season even if you really do live in the UK and want to watch a game in an unsupported country.

What will change?
Local Paid Content: Purchasing content outside your home country is not possible during your travels. This means you’ll have access to free and globally licensed content, but local market-specific paid content will remain locked.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can watch the games?

I have just subscribed from Thailand no problem. Cost me £17.26 for a month. I didn’t use my vpn as dazn knows my location from last season. However, Jamie is correct that if you use a vpn you can bypass the 3pm match restrictions in the UK. I use Nord which is about £4.50 per month. As I’m already abroad I don’t need to use the vpn. For you guys it’s well worth it as you can see every match

Try googling dazn Denmark. Maybe you goggled dazn uk. Dazn need to know your location because of the above

I have a fire stick but pools matches can be somewhat erratic . Sometimes streams a bit slower and sometimes the games take ages to load up so you get frustrated. You can end up missing up to half of the match. It’s a bit of a lottery which is why I subscribe with dazn . £4.50 a match ain’t going to break the bank and some of the revenue goes back to pools

DAZN blocked VPNs towards the end of last season. I used to use one to get around the Saturday 3pm uk blackout, but the app now detects if you have a VPN installed and doesn’t work.

they are lying as well. hot an email from them today which states you can watch all games for £99 odd quid a season but as we all should know by now you cannot watch 3pm KO live unless its on an international break week or bank holidays.

This is the thing that's making me angry today. Very disdisingenuous. Last year the first away game of the season (also away at Yeovil) was exempt from the 3pm blackout and you could get a match pass for £9.99. This doesn't seem to be the case this year. Things only ever get worse.

VPN issue. Install NordVPN and select a UK server. The free ones won't work as they're throttled back.

Many thanks for all the suggestions. Sorted now - just in the nick of time.

I had to delete my account and make a new one with a different email address where I'm registered as living in Denmark and watching in Denmark. UTP!

Watching on DAZN. I took up the 99 quid season offer since that is about what Imwould have paid to travel down today. I have Nord vpn and will try next Saturday to see if it works. There is no audible commentary today from DAZN. I can hear what is probably BBC local radio in the background. Not really a problem since we don’t have commentary when I am at the match in person. One other advantage of not attending…time for another beer

No buffering here. It’s a joke that the Yeovil commentators have been yapping away all half and no ones bothered to tell them their microphones aren’t turned on.

I very much hope they don’t bother sorting it out for the second half.

Paid the £99 and happy with the picture quality - much better than it was when I paid for the odd away game last season.
The chipmunks at Radio Wurzel don't seem to realise that their commentary is being drowned out by crowd noise.

The ref is letting a ridiculous amount go. Francis booked for dissent after he'd been pulled back for the umpteenth time. Should have been a booking the other way.

I caved and bought DAZN on that £99 offer too, I shall only use my dodgy alternative for the blackout games…. Coverage was ok, apart from around 4 times in the second half where it the screen went black for a couple of seconds, but then came back. The Cameraman almost got caught out when pools made a break in the second half, luckily for him it didn’t go in.. I had the same problem with the commentary as mentioned above, but solved it by putting Radio Tees on through my phone at the same time as the DAZN pictures.

@trevwoody, I have NordVPN too, and it is that I was using last year, it worked fine until about the last 2 months of the season when they introduced the blocker. Everything looks fine on the app, but it won’t let you start the video feed.

Glad the blackouts weren't my pc going on the blink :)

Having Radio Tees on didn't work for me because their commentary was about 30 seconds ahead of the pictures I was watching.

I got the DAZN £99 deal as well, it buffered and went black 12 seconds in and I was fuming but after that was generally ok. No audible commentary at all due to the crowd overlay - used bbc tees on the sounds app and just paused it when dazn fell behind due to buffering a few times.

The tees commentary was ahead on mine too, but on the sounds app you can pause it, so I pause it when I hear the ref blow to start the match and press play again when I see the match start on the stream, then it lines up.

I really cant be bothered with this streaming stuff as problems are always encountered and its just plain annoying. They over promise and under deliver.
I just listen on bbc Tees which keeps stress levels down (apart from the match).

I like your optimism re Sky, I doubt Sky would be interested in the National League football, there would have to a global interest in the National League to attract subscribers which there isn’t. Sky aren’t going to have teams of cameras at a non league game just for a few hundred subscribers are they ?

but they,ll show crawley v harrogate live unless its a 3pm saturdau KO where i,d guess the viewing figures could be less than our game at altrincham next week. if you actually have sky there will be channels on it that you have never watched.

agree. i only go to stockport to meet up with my lad and unless i watch pools live or on DAZN i,d rather take the dog out than watch most of the football thats available. the game bores me now how its played and the diving cheating mega rich employed in it. i,ve had better sex with a lass who yawns than the premier league shite and international football.

Whilst I am passionate about Pools, I am also passionate about the game and will generally take the opportunity to watch a game. If I'm enjoying it I continue to watch but if not the off button always works.

go back 20 years and i would never have written that. in one week i saw 6 games in 8 days and only missed sunday and thursday because there was no games being played. one of the highlights of an august holiday there was a match of some standard to watch during it close to where you were staying.

Never followed or been a plastic supporter of any other team than Pools. When I worked abroad I shared a flat with a lad who would watch all the live games available, used to bore me shitless.

agree. i only go to stockport to meet up with my lad and unless i watch pools live or on DAZN i,d rather take the dog out than watch most of the football thats available. the game bores me now how its played and the diving cheating mega rich employed in it. i,ve had better sex with a lass who yawns than the premier league shite and international football.

Whilst I am passionate about Pools, I am also passionate about the game and will generally take the opportunity to watch a game. If I'm enjoying it I continue to watch but if not the off button always works.
On your yawning friend, maybe she is suggesting a change of position rather than a demonstration of boredom.

go back 20 years and i would never have written that. in one week i saw 6 games in 8 days and only missed sunday and thursday because there was no games being played. one of the highlights of an august holiday there was a match of some standard to watch during it close to where you were staying.

I used to travel around a bit as well and always looked for a match to go to. I was in Aberdeen once for two nights and went to Pittodrie.

possibly my best was when i worked for national express and arrived in london at 1pm and departed at 9am the next day. went to the old den in my uniform and told them i,d brought one of the supporters coaches from leeds down. free stand ticket and a leeds defeat. what more could you ask for in that city.
