North East England Asylum Seekers

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

North East England Asylum Seekers

I see that the search for new accommodation to house asylum seekers in north-east England has been 'paused' by our inglorious Government. Not before time as we in the NE already have the highest numbers of asylum seekers in the UK, particularly the Boro and Hartlepool who currently lie first and second in the table (now there's a novelty).

Our Labour MP Mr Brash has indicated that this decision was made back in March but not announced until today. This only a couple of days after Reform won another by-election at Easington and Shotton with an increased majority over the Labour candidate since Reform initially took the seat on Durham County Council back in May. Sheer co-ncidence?

Our town is now bursting at the seams with them so we probably won't know the difference.

He started off saying he was here for the long term, now he just tries to court popularity as the political tide goes out……if a bandwagon drives past he’ll jump on it.
Our very own Vicar of Bray.

Agreed, one of his opening promises was to stop the riff raff congregating at the bottom of the York Road ramp and intimidating the public. Haven't seen any signs of progress there at all - just another one of Labour's failed commitments that are piling up now.

one of the biggest problems is that they stand out far more in the town than they would in a lot of other places where nobody would look at em twice.

Cheaper to house them in the NE than down south so saving tax payers millions. Now where's me tin hat.

true, but its not all about the initial cost. it might cost as much in the long run if things kick off in the NE by having a problem that did not exist before they arrived with extra police and court costs. lets face it other places are now used to problems in there areas and new immigrants coming in will only add to the problems that exist already and are not new to these areas. better to make them worse than creating a problem for people who are not used to it.

So we have to accept thr role of being selected to take anything, based on that premise…?
What next, nuclear waste storage because it’s cheaper in the North East.

You've already got nuclear power that's close to large towns and ICI Wilton etc. Its already happened. This Labour Government is highly metropolitan centric so all the nasty stuff has to be done outside of London and other major cities wherever possible.

I agree, but why do we put up with it…probably because the North East’s politicians are semi house trained nodding dogs.

The land adjacent the current power station is earmarked either for a second one or a facility to recycle nuclear waste.
