Radio Tees have just said we've signed him from Wealdstone, good player, 16 goals last season.

20 Goals in all competitions last season while on loan at fellow National league team Wealdstone where he got player of the year.
Reid was described as "strong and athletic", as well as "having an eye for goal" by Fleetwood Town development coach Paul Murray.[3] Stevenage manager Dino Maamria called Reid a "pure athlete" and stated that "he will add pace to our forward-line".

He's 6 feet 4 so should have a presence about him and he's quick. Fingers crossed he turns out to be what we need.

16 goals in 32 league games for Wealdstone plus 1 in the FA Cup against Grimsby according to Transfermarkt. Goal ever other game for a poor side - not too shabby at all.

Speaking of poor sides - Mani got 16 in 41 league games for us...

They don't show FA 4th qual round, he scored a hattrick in that too so got 20 in league/cup in 34 games

Did play 5 for Oldham too without a goal though but only started 2 of them

what i like about this signing is it seems to show some joined up thinking in terms of how he will partner with Johnson up front--its cheered me up ..... for the time being.

I can only think that the usual suspects have been nowhere near this recruitment campaign because it's actually looking OK. Raj can still bugger off though.

Yeah I only said it's looking OK. Can't believe we are in a position where people are wetting themselves over these signings. Shows how long this dross had been going on. Hooray, we've signed a lad who scored since goals for Wealdstone, what a time to be alive. Still, if he scores in blue and white iris please me.

clappp It's on the official site now (apologies don't know how to post links)
In Pools shirt with customary scarf.
Looks like a useful addition, with decent numbers. Be good to see how he gels with Johnson

I'm delighted with the signing of Alex Reid.
Just looked at his stats and was surprised to see that him and Manni have almost the same amount of goals scored 84 & 85. the difference is that Manni took 108 games more to hit his total.

Decent enough signing on paper, though not that prolific, maybe that's why Oldham loaned him to Wealdstone, where like Mani D, managed to finally get amongst the goals in a poor team, some players do that throughout their careers. Had he scored 16 for Oldham, I'd have been more enthusiastic.

To me it's more he'll be a good foil for Danny Johnson, I think they will work.

He scored 9 for Oldham in 35 games but that was was over 3 seasons interspersed with two loans at Wealdstone.

Looked at a highlights real on YouTube and he scored 21 for Stockport in the COVID season under their previous boss. And also got a few important goals under DC. He clearly knows how to finish and some of his one on ones were very cool and composed- just what we've missed probably since Armstrong and Oates departed.

If him and Johnson (RaJ  ) can strike up a half decent understanding then we could maybe muster a top half finish! Suppose it will all depend on fitness and decent service into the box.

I'm determined to keep my powder dry for now, so won't be passing judgement on our NEW team until at least 10 league games into the season.

Now we need a decent keeper not a Mackem reject who could not get a game.

Looking at the way the signings are going, I get the feeling we will be in talks with a 'proper' keeper and the two young lads on trial will be looked at as back ups. I'm pretty sure when they announced the retained list they said fevs and smith were offered coaching positions.

Finally an upgraded signing.

Probably won't get as many pens as that ManDgadgy.

But Deffo won't miss a shit load of open goals.

The grass not paper will judge him about October.

UTP.

Checked in with my Oldham supporting mate who rates him ( as he did Sheron ). Says he "knew where the net was", but never got a run in the team, which sounds a bit at odds. As ever we'll need to make our own minds up when the real action starts.

Brian Clough famously said, "It's no point in you scoring three if our bloke's letting three in," emphasising the crucial importance of a good goalkeeper. He believed that a great goalkeeper was just as vital to a successful team as a top-class striker.

had a big fall out at oldham by his comments about training on christmas day something on the lines of what the fuck are we doing here. had a spell at stockport where he was not over popular with there fans. for me he has something different by doing the least expected thing that comes off and on other occasions makes him look a mug. if we just let him play his game and not try to make him follow a pattern he should be fine. he,ll score the goal of the season along with the miss of the season as well.

No, they're both still "contracted to a Player/Coach role" according to the Retained List.

Hopefully Grayson won't put too much faith in Smith. The fans know he can look steady away for a run of games but then has a stinker and it affects him for weeks afterwards.

The squad definitely needs a No.1 keeper bringing in - and an attacking midfielder.
