RIP
At least he had a proper job before politics unlike those of today, And believe he did national service unlike those of today, He was actually a MAN unlike those of today.
Packed in politics to look after his sick wife, While those of today hate the sick and disabled and old.

Utter Twats, And thats me being polite.

Spitting Images had him as the Chingford Skinhead, he absolutely loved it.
Remember going past the bombed Hotel in Brighton en route to Pompey and he quit to to care for his wife who ended up in a wheel chair from the injuries in the explosion ….and died a couple of years ago ….even though Thatcher begged him to stay, but said his wife came first.

A proper politician.

Honest, straight talking and I believe he genuinely tried to make our country a better place.

Puts the current shower to shame and no, I’m not a dyed in the wool Tory.

I heard someone on the news this morning saying his ‘get on your bike ‘ remark was taken totally out of context by the papers….he really said his father was unemployed and rode around on his bike looking for work in the town they lived in until he got a labouring job.

No chance ..they’re just employ poetic gobshites who NEVER answer a question…come to that most of the Labour MP’s pre Blair would never get near a place in Parliament today, because they said it as it was.

for once i do not think this is a case of making a hero out of somebody because they have died when they were not in life. its more of how politicians and what voters think of them have dropped to an all time low in 40 years. at least they looked and talked the part unlike todays versions of political stepford wives.
