One of Thatchers biggest mistake was selling of North Sea Oil and Gas not like Norway, the U.K. buys gas from Norway now, who now have a sovereign wealth fund worth trillions. The U.K. could have re invested it in the infrastructure but it was squandered to pay for tax cuts.
The U.K. could have ended up a stand alone self governing country just like Norway, Iceland and Switzerland.

it does seem odd that the UK never gained riches from being an oil and gas supplier like other countries have. it feels as if that industry never existed for me.

Because it was sold of to the highest bidders, initially owned by BNOC, I can’t think of any other country who sold off their oil and gas assets, not sure if anyone knows different.

Because the government were after a quick buck without the bother and all governments since have been happy to milk it.
No matter who we elect, nothing changes.

We didn't get the Brexit that was promised because our leaders decided that the vote was not in our best interests and acted to dilute the process as much as possible, Starmer is still doing it FFS.
The electorates decision should have been implemented as promised and who knows where we'd be now if that had been delivered?
It's fair enough discussing the pros and cons of the version we got, but it doesn't make the outcome of the vote wrong. Surely the focus now should be on making the best of things, not constantly pining for the past. The EU for all it's might hasn't got a co-ordinated position and strategy for the war in next door neighbouring Ukraine, that to me says they should have stuck to the original trading group premise rather than the failing drive towards the United States of Europe.

Good post,Mr PTID..i've also noticed the likes of Jamie and Mutley never reply to you when it comes to Brexit .

Brexit was all about snake oil salesmen like farage and dick wads like Jacob Rhyss ballbag furthering their own personal agendas. They couldn't give a flying fuck about the plebs, it's laughable. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?!
