Can’t think of any examples before at Pools though I know it happens a lot in general, personally I don’t see it as a good idea, forgetting this is a player who wasn’t a regular at a club who didn’t make the playoffs last year it also brings complications/questions of nepotism if results go wrong, plus if Grayson gets sacked which is the overwhelmingly most likely option based on recent history can’t imagine that being great for the players morale

Still if rumors are true and it’s a swap deal with Campbell then at least that’s what I assume to be one of our top earners off the pay roll so would be a good move from a cost cutting perspective

To let anutha forward to go before we get a no or yes from MannyD n Grey is cutting the cloth a bit to fine IMO.

We did have Ian Thomas Moore as a player and his dad Ronnie Moore as manager but at separate times.

Yeh I am not against shifting Campbell as I assume relatively well paid and hasn’t worked for him…BUT we need a replacement sharpish….bit like when we got rid of Bogle and Byrne and brought in some unproven Jocks who turned out shite

I don’t mind if he signs his granny if she can play football.

Not ideal, in football or any walk of life, but if his son is good enough, why not? surely his playing ability is the most important thing. You also wouldn't want him playing well for a rival in the same league, he was a bit part player for Gateshead last season, but I reckon this season, he'd be playing 40 odd games, so in that respect, makes sense to me. Also company for his dad as managers at Pools don't seem to be allowed to bring their own staff in. Seems like a shoe in for Ferguson.

So he was a bit part player for a team who finished 8th? Doesn’t sound like the sort of signing that a promotion winning squad would make but who knows

More concerned that most of the other names linked are the league below us or lower, sign players from lower down the leagues and that’s where you usually end up

finding a replacement as inaffective as he was will not be difficult even for pools. we have not reached panic stations yet where we sign anybody just to make the numbers up. it seems to take much longer nowadays to sign players and grayson could have actually signed somebody within days of taking the job but it takes so long now from the first talks to the player being announced.

I read we are one of only 5 clubs in our league not to have made signings so far so the other 19 seem to have managed it.

so. out of those 19 clubs who have we missed out on we could reasonably have signed. can understand the flustration from some but changing manager again has not helped and for once lets hope when the signings do come in we might be glad we did our business later than jumping in too early. its all down to what the squad look like at the first game of the season in august. if fans are giving up already with over a month to go it does feel a bit premature and is a case of we should keep our powder dry for a few weeks at least.

Hope is not a strategy !

It’s not bad luck or magic that we are appointing another new manager well into the future close season and we are way short of players, it’s either a strategy or poor forward planning, after the last 3 seasons I think fans have a right to be sceptical that doing the same thing again this year will suddenly work
