I drive past them a few times a day and always kids in there and playing on the green wedge next to it…it’s particularly popular with Asian families having picnics there…good to spend time with your kids….yet every year along comes the council and rips up the grass to put in wild flower beds, that sadly end up looking like weed beds….all just green tokenism to me and spoiling a play area adjoining the swings somewhere grass is in short supply
I have no problem with wild flowers, seen it done really well….in the right location but ours always look like a hippy’s lawn.

My only concern was sticking them bang in the middle of the kids play area.
Like Accy said, ok a few years back they were ok…. but they’re a bit sad now… the roundabout at the lodge on the 689 coming into town must give a shit impression to strangers, looks like a scrambler bike contest was held on it

so does everything else thats growing close to them that grow more easily. thats why there are gardeners but would take longer and cost much more than just throwing wild flower seeds in. one or two year wonders till the weeds take back over.

You do get a show of flowers but the weeds thrive even more, trouble is they’re left to look an eyesore after the initial bloom.
To get a decent show you need to start anew each year.

with ones that actually grow well in the area and the type of soil there is. i,m not an expert by any means but there is stuff that grows well in my area but not near the coast and vice versa.
