Another pos from the Town with a piss poor sentence. There has to be minimum sentences just for carrying a knife, wasn't a 5 year sentence bandied about when the Tories were in control. For actually using, it should be doubled unless it leads to a fatality when it has to mean life.
I usually lean one way and this is the furthest I will ever lean the other way. Sorry, just had to get it off my chest after reading the article.

Det Con Nigel Rusby said he was "satisfied" with the sentence and hoped it would deter other young people from carrying a knife.

That sentence won't deter anyone!!! banghead banghead

The trial for the people who cut the tree down on Hadrian’s wall is scheduled to last for 10 days and their fate decided by a jury, I can imagine their sentence will be more than someone who commits a knife crime.
Could this not have been decided at a magistrates court, no one died or was seriously injured apart from a tree ?

They are kunts and deserve everything they get. I think it's trial by jury because they've been denying it was them.

How can they plead not guilty when they videoed themselves doing it ?

After a 10 day trial paid for by tax payers we might find out why they did it, one has pleaded not guilty the other hasn’t entered a plea.

Funnily enough I recall over 20 years ago, my brother, who still has a landscaping business in my back garden who pulled out a sapling I had been given….and said ‘Bloody Sycamore, there’s a weed you don’t want’…and he more or less classed them as a nuisance weed, not a tree.

its like everything in this country. a lot depends on which tree is felled or who is the victim of a knife crime. cut down a tree thats not iconic then thats it. knife someone well known and it will be looked at as more serious than sticking a blade into a somebody living on a council estate. a tree is a tree and a human being is just that and fame should never enter into it.

But it wasn't a common or garden variety of sycamore tree - it was a "special" tree.

Its speciality was in being a magic money-making tree for English Heritage, and that's all you need to know about the court case.

Everything else regarding this matter is bollocks.

This oak tree was over 500 years old, felled on the grounds of health and safety by Mitchell and Butlers. The tree, with a girth of 6m (20ft), was a nationally significant pedunculate oak listed on the Woodland Trust's ancient tree inventory.
What action is being taken against them ?

Both men found guilty of felling the tree, they have been remanded to await sentences with the judge saying there could be a lengthy jail sentence for them.
