and finding one actually called an easter egg. quality street one is actually called, the incredible egg. next year they might even stop calling them eggs in case the ones that lay them might be offended especially by the size.

This got me thinking of Easter games of the past, and which were the best Easters. FFS! I started going through the seasons on In The Mad Crowd, from 1971 onwards, how depressing, our record in games over Easter, is on par with our record at places like Scunthorpe and Brighton, ABYSMAL !

In hardly any of the seasons, between 1971 and now, did we win both Easter games, remembering that back in the 70s and 80s, 3 games were generally played over Easter not 2. Think only 2002 and 2004 were anything to write home about, got fed up after about 2007 and couldn't be arsed looking at the seasons after that, but Easter certainly isn't a happy period for Pools games, as you'd probably expect, given Pools general lack of success throughout its history.

Reserve games on a Saturday at the Vic, those were the days. Used to love the 3 game Easter periods, Darlo at home on Good Friday, York away on Saturday etc, not the same now with only 2 games, and not always derbies anymore.

its got even worse as the teams closer to you means a tueday night game and the southern ones on a saturday. many fans cannot make or want to make tuesday night but would attend that fixture if it was a saturday one but not over keen on watching someone like maidenhead.

Aaaah the 70’s…let’s be honest, I was letting off fireworks if we got an away draw…an away win was so overwhelming you were lost for words.
Happy days…
