Not ... fookin ... trained ... to ... deal ... with ... the ... incident?

Have I misread that or what?

Does anyone realise that in France those two officers could be JAILED for their failure to help unless they could prove there was absolutely no way of rescuing the child without peril to their own lives? That's one thing at least they've got right here.

I knew that; there's no similar duty to provide assistance in England and Wales. However, there is a duty if one is imposed by your employment. Surely if we are to have CSOs, one of their duties must be to assist those in peril?

"Two anglers jumped in and saved Bethany but Jordon became submerged."

I wonder how much training these anglers had had in life saving? Just goes to show again what waste of space these wannabe coppers are! rage

I seem to recall that one of the photographers in the Diana crash was charged with something like this.
Seems such a bizarre story if you join up for the job what do you actually get trained in then?

It should also be noted that these anglers were 68 and 62.

It was also a pond not a raging torrent.

Alright I'm a qualified diver but FF sake pulling a 10 year old and an 8 year old from a pond....

'...Well we radio'd for assistance...........'

Truly I hope, when he got home and hung up his smart peaked cap, paid for by you and me, his wife was under his brother and his cat was drinking bleach.....

This fella obviously thinks PCSO's are a waste of space too.

Paul Kelly, chairman of the Police Federation in Manchester, said PCSOs do not have the same level of training as police officers to deal with life-saving situations.

He said: "The message is clear and unambiguous - it's the government, they are trying to fool the public.

"They take a person and dress him up as a police officer but they just don't have the same powers.

"Every single police officer I trained with left training school with a life-saving certificate of some sort."

He said the PCSOs might not have been able to swim and in that case they should not have risked their lives.

But he added: "People throw themselves into rivers and ponds to save people every day because it's the right thing to do.

"This is an accident waiting to happen again."

I can swim like a brick, and deliberately avoid deep water. But I can't believe I would have done anything other than instinctively jumped in and tried to do something about the situation.

I'm trying hard without success to imagine ANYONE who wouldn't have jumped in. Even the most unsavoury people I know. Even the most fearful.
It just does not compute in my brain. It's on a level with eating babies alive.
