That was a decent win. Only downside was giving the ball away too often but will blame the conditions.
How did Madine miss that out and out sitter.
Good turnout from Oldham fans.

Best home performance for a long long time. Better team overall and their direct style suited pur CBs perfectly, didn't create a great deal for Smith to do although fantastic save towards the end from that man Fondop.
Hopefully Lennie will realise that we can actually win games if we set up to do so.

Sheron in midfield and extra firepower from two up top made the difference? Love to hear from anyone who watched the game.

Sheron is quality and centre midfield is definitely where he needs to play. Not too sure about the 'extra firepower' as Madine missed a sitter early on and Mani didn't have a chance of note - but Pools ability to get hold of the ball further up the field definitely improved.

All in all it was a good day at the Vic and almost a 'routine' win. Not that Oldham didn't have plenty of the ball, but they didn't do much with it. Took the lead with an unstoppable shot out of nowhere, Smith made a terrific save near the end of the game - in between nothing from them to get excited about. Our back four all looked comfortable and Fergie had his best game in a good while.

Pools' attacking play was far better than Oldham's till Mancini and Grey ran out of puff.

Also happy to report that the ref gave us a lot of good decisions - not that they were wrong, but you don't always see them given.

Looks like Lennie has proven me wrong and that he can be adventurous, team selection and tactics spot on and we really should have scored more. Liked most of the substitutions too although would have preferred not to sit so deep towards the end.
Struggled to score any of the team more than 5s against Gateshead but struggled to score any of them less than 7s and 8s today. More of the same against Barnet please.

I thought the lads did great today. I think that our surprise line up (with 2 up front) threw Oldhams game plan out of the window as they looked lost tactically for the whole game. They were throwing the kitchen sink at us towards the end but it was going nowhere and you could really see how frustrated their senior players were getting (shouting at each other and shouting at the linesman/ref). Smith in goal didn't really put a foot wrong and pulled off a cracking save from Fondop. Mancini was immense until he ran out of steam and Grey was like a human dynamo. For a young lad like him to cover that amount of ground and work that hard (both attacking and defensively - as intelligently as he does) is really something special.

I thought Lennie did better than usual with the subs today as well.

Proper game with a proper atmosphere. Was sadly reminiscent of days gone by when we were playing at our rightful level against proper clubs.

that came through even watching it at home. deserved win for me and credit to lenny and the players. got my hat and scarf ready for my two oldham mates at dinner time. lets hope he continues with dodds and mancini together when possible as there is a decent partnership happening with them. got the 3 points i wanted over the two holiday games we played but still refuse to get overexcited with the play off words.
