Had decent hopes for him when he signed but he’s more proof how poor the league of Ireland is…nice lad and interviews well, but below what we need standard wise sadly

Have to agree, comes across well in interviews and was hoping he'd be a real find but in reality he's been absolutely pointless. I fail to see what he offers and we are yet to see any positive contribution from him. He really needs to buck his ideas up!

This midfield was called out before a ball had been kicked by quite a few on here, saying we had signed a load of players with no speed no goals in them and all very feathetstone like, a worsr version i may add, so how come these professionals couldnt see this at pools?

True but unfair to have a pop at a 36 yrs old who to me has been the best midfield player this season and a much fitter all round version. More than a few of including you wanted rid of him before a ball had been kicked so your not innocent either.

so did i after the reports about him. then i saw him play and offered nothing but running. at least hunter and sheron came out with the ball mostly in 50/50 situations which he does not.

Not sure that's how I remember it sctatchinghead Pretty much everyone agreed by the end of last season that Pools midfield trio of Cooke, Crawford and Feaths was a liability because it was too slow, couldn't tackle and kept getting overrun. What was overlooked is that they were all decent footballers - I still remember the TV commentators in our last game in League 2 away to Stockport marvelling at how they were able to control the game for long periods with their passsing ability.

The expectation pre-season was that Hunter-Sheron-Sloggett would be more mobile and better in the tackle than Cooke-Crawford-Featherstone. By and large they are, as long as nobody confuses 'mobile' with 'quick', cos they ain't that.

Nobody expected Hunter to miss so many games - he was pretty much an ever-present for Halifax last season. Sheron is decent, Sloggett a let down. None of them are good ballplayers, so it's no surprise Featherstone is back in the team.

Incidentally, anybody know whether Callum Cooke has lost interest in getting fixed up with another club? I'm amazed he's not turning out for a local NLN or Northern Premier League side. Matty Dolan still getting his game for Spenny, who are above the mighty Brackley Town in the NLN - so are Darlo and South Shields for that matter

At 27 years old I'm surprised cooke hasn't got a club yet. Can do a job in the right team at this level.

The reason I thought Fev had to go was because as a holding midfielder he was f*cking shite. He always has been better in a more advanced role which is how he's been used thus season.

he could but how many games would he be available for. personally i was glad he was gone. for the few touches of good play he did do it was all lost by his rants at refs and not getting back into the game as quick as he could. thats when he was actually available for selection.

Id have Cooke back - he created stuff and was a good footballer for this level. On his day one of the best Mids in the league but again like we see he just wasnt fit or strong enough i dont think. Something was a miss with him and clearly has an injury that he cant shake off.

Its shite to see again we dont have a stand out CM who can play all season and always reverting back to Feaths (which i dont mind as hes been great again for me). Hunter is a miss for sure.

But Sloggett yeh - utter bobbins as a footballer. If he could tackle he would be ideal to bring on last 20 and just run the midfield down and put in some ball winning interceptions and tackles but i just dont see it in him at all. He had so much praise from the irish lot too. Really thought we had finally found a better than NL standard CM with box to box capabilities

irish players who have come from their homeland to play are a real mixed bunch more so than the scots are. if you hit lucky you get a good un but more likely another sloggett who can talk but out of their depth on the pitch.
